"Don't groom your doodle too young, you'll ruin their adult coat!"
𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝘆𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹!! ✂️👇
The idea that early grooming or clipping ruins a doodle's coat is 100% false. Your pup's future coat texture and wave pattern are determined by one thing and one thing only: genetics.
Around 6 to 12 months, your doodle will naturally transition from their soft puppy coat to their adult coat. Bringing them to the groomer early won't change that process, but waiting too long absolutely will make their first experience a nightmare.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 6+ 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳: Around the 6-month mark, the puppy coat starts shedding into the emerging adult coat. Without professional help, this leads to severe, painful matting, resulting in the dreaded "shave-down."
𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘰𝘢𝘥: Imagine being a teenager and experiencing a loud, vibrating, splashing environment for the very first time. It’s terrifying! Early visits teach them that the salon is a safe, happy place.

Introduce your doodle to the groomer as soon as they are fully vaccinated (usually around 12–16 weeks).
