Acupuncture FAQ's .....💉
💉Does acupuncture hurt my pet?
No – acupuncture uses very tiny needles, so small that pets do not feel them being inserted. Sometimes pets can react a little to the new sensation but will soon relax!
💉How long does it take?
Each session can take around an hour, with the first session being slightly longer to allow the patient to get used to the new sensation.
💉Will my pet tolerate the treatments?
Most pets tolerate treatment really well and feel very relaxed, particularly as they get used to the sensation. Should your pet be particularly fearful, Vet Bruce may advise some oral medication to give them before the appointment to help them relax. During treatment, you will stay with your pet to help them feel as relaxed as possible.
💉Is acupuncture safe?
Acupuncture is very safe when practiced by an appropriately trained veterinary surgeon. Under UK law, veterinary acupuncture can only be undertaken by a veterinary surgeon with suitable training. One of our wonderful vets, Bruce, has undertaken this further training to offer this service to our patients.
💉How often is it done?
Initially, patients will have a weekly sessions for up to 6 sessions, which will then be followed by top up sessions as needed in the future.
