Wallace receiving a plasma transfusion due to a low IgG blood result. This is a consequence of failure of passive transfer (the transfer of antibodies in the mareโs colostrum).
Antibodies are crucial to helping fight pathogens (ie. bacteria and viruses) and because the foal is reliant upon receiving these from the mare in early life, boosting them when low is advised to ensure optimal immunity and the very best start in life.
Of course, only the best for Wally!
