New Place. New Walk🌲 Tunstall Forest. What a find!
Some friends showed me this spot a few weeks ago, and today I went back with Gavin and Tali for a bit of one‑to‑one time.

We’re making a real effort to walk the dogs individually at the moment. It helps strengthen that connection and gives each dog the chance to practise the behaviours we want without the distraction of the others.

Tunstall Forest had a lot to offer Tali. Plenty of undergrowth for hunting out her ball, a few natural obstacles to hop over (in moderation, she’s still growing), and those long forestry tracks were perfect for a bit of heelwork.

Training doesn’t always need to look formal. Some of the best learning happens out on a walk when you use what’s around you.

Maddie showing off her recall in the sunshine, after a swim in the sea at Dunwich Beach, and making it look like the best game going. A quick whistle and she is straight back in for a check in and a lick of the new JR Pet Products Ltd ostrich pate… then a release cue and she is off again with her tail wagging.

When coming back to you feels this good, recall becomes something your dog chooses, not something you have to battle for. A bit of fun, a bit of food and a lot of enthusiasm go a long way.

Springer energy AND fabulously coordinated. What more could she want?

Since moving, one of our favourite new walks has to be Dunwich Beach.
It was absolutely beautiful at the weekend. When we pulled into the car park it looked busy and I did wonder what we were walking into, but once we reached the shoreline it was wonderfully peaceful for the most part.

Pepper thought it was the best day ever. She had the beach almost to herself, splashed about in the water and gave me some lovely retrieves straight back to hand. These quieter adventures are perfect for building engagement, practising skills in new places and simply enjoying time together.

Does your dog love the beach too, or are they more of a woodland explorer?
I would love to hear about your favourite local walks, especially if they involve water as mine never miss a chance for a dip.

Settling was really hard today... It is half term and Two Magpies Bakery was full of kids enjoying their break. Tali was born into a household of children and so she adores them 👶👦🧒 I brought out the big guns JR Pet Products Ostrich Paste. Although she barked a few times, she did not do a zebedee ☄️ and spring off the floor - so a big win 👏😅

The season I love but also slightly dread. 🤧Hayfever turns me into a grumpy mess. But with a sunny morning walk and a spaniel who keeps choosing you… it's hard to stay miserable for long 🥾🐾🤎
