In late June of 2024 I hatched several thousand offspring from a Ki/ kin Ki Utsuri spawning.
The fry were grown for the summer outside then housed indoors in heat until early March then cooled ready to go up for sale ( approximately 22-30cm by this point).
Due to being inside for several months the yellow and black pigment was quite dull which goes to show how important uv light is to our beloved koi carp.
Here is a video a customer sent me today he’s very pleased with how the colours now pop out on his Ki Utsuri and Yamabuki ( Yamabuki also from the same spawning) in their natural clay lined pond.
I’ve moved the remaining 40 Ki Utsuri and Yamabuki outside to enjoy the rest of summer.

Metallic koi fry which I’m keeping for the next batch of growth. Late September I will do another selection through these and have to extremely picky.
Looking for shine on the pectorals and head.
As an off throw some exceptional Doitsu ochiba and kogane are coming through as well as Doitsu Saragoi.
October will see these either moved into an indoor pond or building one outside with heating included to take them through the winter.
