👏 👏 huge congratulations to these guys who have done an amazing job providing us with the best dog park around! If you’ve not been yet, go, go, go!! 🐾

A massive thank you from us to all our amazing park users 🐾. Today the regional results from the British Dog Fields 2025 were announced & we were 1st in the Aberdeenshire, Highlands & Islands group which features some pretty amazing parks.

To say we are delighted is a understatement! We have been open just over 4 months & are truly humbled by the support everyone has shown us.

Well done to all the other fabulous parks, behind each one are people working really hard to provide great facilities across the country.

Thank you for the continued support & taking the time to vote for us 🐾

☀️ SUNSHINE ALERT: LAMINITIS RISK IS SKY HIGH☀️

With the sunny weather, we are seeing the predicted surge in laminitis cases. This includes horse and ponies of all shapes and sizes, not just round Shetlands and Welsh ponies. Sunshine boosts grass sugars, putting your horses and ponies - especially those who are overweight or have Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) - at serious risk.

Laminitis is NOT just “a little bit footy.” It’s a painful, potentially fatal condition that needs immediate attention.

🚨 Early signs to watch for: 🚨
• Reluctance to move or turning stiffly
• Shifting weight between feet
• Lying down more than usual
• Heat in the hooves or increased digital pulse
• Short, choppy stride

If you notice ANY of these, call us. Early intervention improves outcomes. We use pain medication, management and dietary changes, foot support and insulin control medication to manage cases. Every year we see fatal cases of laminitis despite our best efforts.

How to protect high-risk horses:
• Restrict or manage grazing (use a muzzle or bring in during peak sun)
• Avoid lush, sugary grass-especially after sunny days and cool nights
• Maintain a healthy weight - no excuses!
• Regularly check hooves and monitor for subtle changes

If you are worried about your horse or pony’s risk, a blood sample to check their metabolic profile and assess for insulin dysregulation can predict the risk of laminitis and direct early intervention.

If you look at the paddock and think it looks bare, compare it to the field next door. If your horses and ponies were not in that paddock it would look like the field next door… so they are eating a lot of lush green grass to make it look bare!

Remember: “A little bit footy” IS laminitis.

Call us if you’re concerned or need advice on managing your horse’s risk. We’re here to help keep your horses safe and sound! 🐴💙
