🐾 Little Beauty’s Big Day! 🐾

💕 Earlier this week our Nunthorpe surgical team had the pleasure of looking after Beauty, a tiny chihuahua with a big personality!

🥇 She spent the day with us to be neutered and was an absolute superstar throughout her stay.

After her procedure, Beauty looked extra adorable in her little surgical suit 🩷 — these suits help protect the surgical site, keep it clean, and stop any licking or nibbling while she heals. Plus, we think you’ll agree… she looks incredibly cute in it! 😍

Our lovely RVN Pam enjoyed caring for Beauty all day and made sure she had plenty of cuddles and reassurance. 💕

🦎 Looking for a Special Home for a Special Bearded Dragon 🦎

We’re looking to rehome a juvenile bearded dragon who has a lovely, gentle nature and is becoming more and more handleable each day. (she loves our nurses!) 💕

💊 She does have a condition called Yellow Fungus Disease (YFD) – a fungal skin infection that affects the outer layers of the skin. It can cause flaky or discoloured patches and, if untreated, may spread to deeper tissues. With good care, the right environment, and ongoing treatment, many dragons with YFD can still live happy, comfortable lives.

🏡 Her new owner must continue her antifungal treatment and provide regular iodine baths to help manage the condition. We’ll be more than happy to go through her full treatment plan and ongoing care requirements with you.

💚 What she needs from her new home:
✅ The correct vivarium setup (we’ll ask for photos)
✅ Previous experience owning a bearded dragon
✅ No other reptiles in the household
✅ A commitment to continue her treatment and provide consistent, attentive care

😢 Firework season is upon us, and it can be a frightening and stressful time for pets.

💊 We’d like to remind all pet owners to plan ahead. If your pet needs medical advice or medication to help them cope during this period, please book your appointment early.

🕒 Some medications may need to be trialled or given time to build up in your pet’s system ahead of Bonfire Night, so don’t wait until the last minute — seek advice now.

🧀 “It’s only just a little treat…”

Following on from yesterday’s post about National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, we thought we’d share something that might surprise you! 😮 😮 😮

🧁 Those “just a little” treats we give our pets throughout the day can really add up, and the calorie count might shock you.

🍪 Did you know that a single biscuit for your dog could be the same as you eating a whole doughnut? 🐶
🧀 Or that a small piece of cheese for your cat might equal an entire burger for us? 🐈‍⬛

💕 It’s so easy to show love through food, but keeping our pets at a healthy weight is one of the best ways to keep them happy, active, and with us for longer. ❤️

It’s National Pet Obesity Awareness Day!

Pet obesity can lead to serious health issues such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and therefore, a shorter lifespan. 💔

⚖️ Keeping your pet at a healthy weight means:

🍽️ Feeding them the right portion sizes and not overfeeding them. Check the manufacturers recommendations.
🚶Ensuring regular exercise and enrichment
🩺 Attending routine vet check-ups
💙 Choosing treats wisely (or even better, treat them with food from their daily allowance)
⚖️ Regularly weighing your pet to track their progress and spot changes early.

Most importantly, it's important to stay consistent, to make sure your pet is as healthy as can be!

🍄 As our pets go about their daily business, whether on walks or in our homes and gardens, they may encounter various seasonal dangers.

⚠️ If you think your animal may have eaten something it shouldn't have try and take a photo or bring in the wrapper or just any evidence you can.

We recently had the pleasure of seeing Edith, a 10-month-old Horsfield tortoise, who came in for a routine health check with one of our experienced exotic vets. 🐾
Edith was in great shape and full of personality! 🌿

She has a microchip but it is not registered.
