Vetcare high peak branch would love to introduce Molly our new pet of the month. Molly has shown incredible bravery and patience after being subjected to an unprovoked attacked by another dog when out on her morning walk. She suffered severe wounds to both hind limbs which needed to be healed by bandaging due to the lack of skin in the area. We went to visit her every other day to re bandage her legs until her wounds had healed enough to use a liquid wound sealant called Membra. This allowed her to be bandage free for the final stages of healing. Throughout the process Molly was very tolerant and brave with her bandage chances and certainly became one of the Vetcare staff favourites on our rounds. It was a fantastic day when her dedicated owner finally got the all clear to take her for a much needed run in the fields. Well done Molly and your mum for persevering with the dressings, we hope you now enjoy the rest of your summer 🐾☀️

We would love to introduce our new pet of the month, meet Fleur. Fleurs owner first noticed a problem with her left eye on the 9th of May and immediately called us out. It was clear that she had sustained an eye injury and was in a lot of discomfort with a large ulcer on her cornea. We provided pain relief and eye drops to help shrink the ulcer and to keep her more comfortable. After initially doing well we were called back to see her by a very worried owner on the 29th of May as the eye had taken a turn for the worse. She unfortunately needed emergency surgery to remove the eye, this was a risky procedure as she is nearly 16years old! We are so pleased to say that Fleur is now doing really well and her eye socket is healing nicely after a minor setback where she showed some signs of infection earlier this week. Well done Fleur what a little fighter and a very deserving pet of the Month 🥰

This chilled out chap is Ole who was Cath and Louise's first patient in our new High Peak branch. After an examination, manicure and some pain medication for a sore toe, Ole was relaxed enough to continue his sunbathing! Ole is a Norwegian Forest cat and is very handsome 🐱

Here is our 20 year old regular, Marius, having his blood pressure taken with cuddles from his owner.

High blood pressure is common in our older feline friends, on its own or as a result of other common diseases such as kidney disease or hyperthyroidism, and can easily go unnoticed, potentially leading to other problems including sudden onset blindness, and organ damage. If identified, it is usually successfully managed with medication, as in Marius' case- he'll be celebrating his 21st birthday next month!

Do ask us about routine blood pressure checks for any cat over 7 years old!

Competition for the bluest eyes today in the High Peak branch.
Wolfie had his second vaccination and we visited Audrey for her pain relieving injection for arthritis. Her brother Trevor couldn't resist posing amongst the daffodils!

We have had two patients in our local area who have contacted leptospirosis in the last 12 months. Both survived, but it was touch and go for them and their treatment was intensive and came to thousands of pounds. For this reason, we have decided to offer the updated Lepto 4 vaccine(covering two extra strains of leptospirosis, for extra protection.

For those who don't wish their pet to have the new updated Leptospirosis vaccine, we will still be offering the older two strain vaccine.

🐾 Important Update: Transition Your Dog to the Lepto4 Vaccine Today! 🐶💉
The Lepto 4 vaccine offers vital protection against four strains of leptospirosis, a serious illness that can affect our beloved dogs.
Here’s what you need to know about the vaccination process to ensure your dog stays healthy and happy.
✨ Vaccination Procedure✨:
Speak to us: Schedule an appointment with us to discuss the transition. We will review your dog’s vaccination history and health status.

We would love to nominate Sacha for our pet of the month in January. We first met Sacha in March 2024 when we were called out to look at her sore ears. She was initially very nervous around us as her and her brother were not used to letting strangers into their home. With gentle reassurance from her owner and lots of treats and affection from us we finally won her over and she is now happy to be examined. This is one of the benefits of our home visits, we allocate a generous amount of time for a consultation so that pets do not feel rushed or pressured during our time with them (obviously several schmakos also help them feels at ease 😉). Sacha developed other medical issues during the course of 2024 so we regularly went to visit her to keep up to date with her progress. Nearly a year on she is doing brilliantly on her medication and her owners have worked tirelessly to get her back to her former health. Well done Sacha 🥰🐶
