We are a family run Pick Your Own Farm, Shop and Cafe located at the side of the Trent and Mersey Canal in Great Haywood - a beautiful part of Staffordshire. We are committed to sourcing high quality, food and drink from farms and producers within a 30 mile radius of our home, whilst continuing to produce our own fruit, garden vegetables and bedding plants right here on the Farm. nd, our Farm Shop offers a wide range of tasty products for all dietary needs; our Cafe serves home cooked seasonal meals from 'field to plate; our seasonal Plant Centre sells beautiful plants and hanging baskets lovingly nurtured in our own glass house; and we offer 'Pick Your Own' strawberries, raspberries and blackberries during summertime and pumpkins for Halloween! We have some lovely walks and cycle rides which start and finish on our farm, plus host a range of family events throughout the year from murder mystery suppers to creative nature based workshops.

23RD-30TH APRIL

Our Butchery Team has quite the selection of Beef on their counter year-round. But to mark British Beef Week we wanted to tell you about some locally sourced Limousin beef from Brewood just a few miles away. This breed of cattle is known for being lean and extremely tasty!

All cuts are available on our counter from ribeye steaks to Brisket and slow-cooked Roasting Joints. If you would like to know more or would like some ideas on how to cook and serve this fantastic Beef just head over to our Butchery counter next time you visit.

Get Out & About this EASTER.

We are very lucky to be situated in such a beautiful location. With Cannock Chase and some fantastic canal tracks right on our doorstep, we couldn't think of a better reason to get out there and see what the fantastic countryside has to offer.

We have free cycle and walk routes which you can pick up from our Cafe, so why not stop for a refuel with a delicious Canalside breakfast or lunch and cup of our locally roasted coffee. Then head on out for an adventure!

Alternatively, our Farm Shop has some lovely outdoor activity books, Cannock Chase walking maps and outdoor games to enjoy too. So if you needed some encouragement to get outdoors here it is!

MONDAY 21ST APRIL

With it being National Tea Day we have to mark the day by mentioning our fantastic local supplier, Chartley Coffee. They supply our Cafe and Farm Shop with a lovely range of delicious, loose-leaf tea and of course our coffee beans.

We may be biased but we believe it is the best around!

Chartley Coffee is a family-run business, not too dissimilar to us in its second generation, specialising in traditional, bespoke coffee roasting. Based just a few miles up the road in Hixon, we are proud to be partnered with such a fantastic local business.

If you enjoy a cup of our tasty tea in the Cafe, why not pick up a retail pack from our Farm Shop and enjoy at home too!

We are pleased to be on the countdown to our wonderful Plant Centre opening for the season!

Next weekend on Saturday 26th April our seasonal Plant Centre will open it's doors from 10am-4pm daily (until we sell out of our quality selection of plants).

So if you are on the look out for some beautiful bedding plants, hanging baskets, garden accessories or just want to brighten up your borders a bit, head over to our Plant Centre.

Our Plant Centre Team will be on hand to help with any advice you might need to create the perfect summer outdoor space.

However you are choosing to spend your Easter Sunday, whether it's with friends and family for a feast or if you plan to enjoy copious amounts of chocolate eggs, or even if you have just opted for some peace and quiet. We wish you a very Happy Easter from us all here at Canalside Farm.

🐰 EASTER HUNT DOWN ON THE FARM 🐰

LAST CHANCE TO ENJOY OUR EASTER EVENT...

We are sad that it is almost time to close our Easter Hunt on the Farm for another year! If you are planning on joining us you still can, just head to our Farm Shop on the day you wish to visit and purchase your tickets. Please be aware the last day of our Easter event is Sunday 20th April.

SO hop on down to Canalside Farm this weekend if you want to enjoy our Easter event before we close for another year...

Our event runs 10am-4pm each day. Arrive anytime after 10am and finish before 12pm for our morning slot or arrive after 1pm and finish before 4pm for our afternoon slot. You can arrive at any time in between and there is no time limit on how long you can spend down on the Farm.

If you do already have tickets you must still head into our Farm Shop to collect your Easter Egg Hunt pack.

Whilst we are are disappointed that the weather looks set to change for the remainder of the Easter Holidays we have some lovely Easter Activities that you can do indoors or outdoors!

We have activity and sticker books, with lots to make and do, and our Bakery team have baked some tasty biscuits with edible paints so that you can decorate them and then enjoy a tasty treat.

All are available from our Farm Shop. Please note our paint your own biscuits should be ordered from our online shop and collected from our Bakery. There may be a limited amount available to purchase on the counter, but do order to avoid disappointment.

If you plan on visiting us here at Canalside Farm this Easter, here are our opening hours…
Our Farm Shop and Cafe opening times remain the same as usual.

Our Easter Egg Hunt on the Farm will also be open from 10am-4pm on Good Friday - Easter Sunday.
Pre-booked tickets are recommended to avoid disappointment, but we will also accept a limited number of walk-ups on the day. Tickets can be purchased online. Simply head to our What's on page to find out more.

*Please note we do not take table reservations in our Cafe, unless you are booking afternoon tea.

the vacancy is full-Time, 5 days a week (one day must be a weekend day), 7am-4pm.

As our Café’s Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading a small team who prepare and cook a variety of dishes in our busy, fast paced café. Reporting to the Hospitality Manager, your role is vital in creating a delightful dining experience for our customers; using your core skills in culinary techniques and meal preparation, you will utilise your kitchen experience to craft delicious meals whilst ensuring high standards in food safety and quality. Join us to showcase your culinary talents and passion for food!

🐰 EASTER ALL AGES WORKSHOP 🐰

WEDNESDAY 23RD APRIL
10am- 11:30am & 2:30pm-4pm

Join the lovely Jo from Hello Tinka for a Family Fun Block Printing Workshop during the Easter School Holidays.

This workshop will be suitable for all ages, and both children & their adults can join in should they wish too. There is the option to choose from a gym bag, tea towel or a tote bag to print your design on. So why not come and get creative and learn a new skill together this Easter.

Jo will talk you through the technique of block printing. Then there will be time to practice your new skill on a sample piece of fabric before you choose the design you wish to use on your final item.

Tickets are £17.50 per person and can now be booked online. Simply head to the 'What's On' page of our website. Ticket price includes all materials, tuition and a speciality hot or cold drink of choice from our cafe.

This workshop will take place under the cover of our Cafe Marquee.

🌷 SPRINGTIME TULIPS 🌷

If you subscribe to our newsletter you will already know that we have been trialling something new down on the Farm this year! If not, we have some news to share with you...

We have started growing a small selection of our very own TULIPS down on the Farm for the very first time and they are just now starting to BLOOM..

Whilst it has been a learning curve for us, understanding the growing times, different varieties and of course coming up against some pesky pests along the way!
Overall we are pleased with the lovely tulips that we now have appearing.
We have started small with a selection growing in our glasshouse and out on the Farm, before our large-scale planting down on the Farm next year.

Here is a glimpse at what our tulips are looking like currently. We will be having a limited amount of freshly picked bunches available from our Farm Shop, we will post them on our stories as soon as they are available. But be quick when we do, our first pick sold out in a day!

🐰EASTER EGG HUNT ON THE FARM 🐰

JOIN US DOWN ON THE FARM THIS EASTER

We have been busy down on the Farm preparing our Easter themed scavenger hunt this week!
Tickets are now available to book online, so come and join us this Easter for some fun around our Farm track.

Our Easter scavenger hunt will run from Saturday 12th April- Sunday 20th April. Tickets are £4.50 for children and £2.50 for adults. This includes an Easter scavenger pack and a chocolate prize at the end!

Collect your Easter pack from the Farm Shop and head out to the Farm to answer the questions, check out our giant colourful eggs for the answers and enjoy the games on your way around. Once you are done, be sure to hand in your answers to the Farm Shop Team to receive your chocolate prize at the end.

Our Story

We are a family run farm that has been growing its own produce for over 35 years. We bought a small holding in Great Haywood back in 1983 and planted our first strawberry plants that spring. Since then we have nurtured and supplied summer berries, autumn pumpkins, garden vegetables and plants directly to businesses across the region, and also to the local community through our own Farm Shop – one of Staffordshire’s first!

Over the last few years we have developed our ‘Pick Your Own’ experience, established a Seasonal Plant Centre and built a lovely relaxing Café (2014) overlooking the Trent and Mersey Canal. We have also rebuilt and extended our Farm Shop to include a butchery, bakery, delicatessen, gift section, award-winning wines and local beers. We were honoured to be awarded the national Small Farm Shop of the year in 2020, whilst our Cafe reached the final of the prestigious Farma Retail Association Awards.

We think we have created something special at Canalside Farm, but don’t take our word for it, come and see for yourself!
