* The Band Formed in Glasgow in 1980.

* Released 7 albums, five of which were top ten.

* The inspiration for the band’s name came from an obscure film producer the founder discovered while watching a movie in 1979.

* Founder Justin Currie went to Jordanhill School in Glasgow, where he formed a school band.

* Despite their popularity, with 24 single releases, just 15 managed the UK top 40 and none troubled the top 10. Number 11 was their best effort.

* Nancy Sinatra is one of her idols. She said Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" made a major impression.

* A cover version of Chuck Berry's "Come On" was their first single, released on 7 June 1963, but they refuse to play it at live gigs.

* Inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of fame in 1989, the same year as Dion. Otis Redding and The Temptation.

* For the 1991 tour, their first in 7 years, the support act was Guns N’ Roses.
