St Neots Pet Care are sponsoring Buckden Caracaras U14's football team. We have a trophy for trainer of the week as well as trophies for match days. This week's winner is JJ - well done JJ! Keep up the good work!

We are also fundraising for more equipment to make training sessions better and more effective - if anyone would like to have a go at our spot the ball competition, click the link below. The winner gets a gift voucher for 20% of the amount raised!

Ticks are small arachnids that sit in tall grass, ready to latch onto passing animals. In dogs, ticks often attach themselves to the legs, chest, or face. They're often too small to notice until they start to fill up with blood. If you look closely, you can see tiny legs at the base of the lump, warts and other growths don't have these legs!!

To safely remove a tick, you will need a ‘tick twister', or tick hook. Methods commonly talked about for removal can actually cause more problems - suffocating the tick with vaseline or similar can cause the tick release large amounts of saliva into the skin, increasing the risk of passing on disease. Pulling the tick is likely to cause the head to detach from the body, leaving the head behind and causing infection.

If you think your dog or cat has a tick and you're not sure what to do, give me a call, and I'll be able to remove it safely.
