What actually goes into running a professional dog walking & training business:

✅ Planning & logistics – Mapping safe, interesting routes; checking weather & ground conditions; scheduling to avoid overcrowding; grouping dogs carefully by size, energy, and temperament. No random wandering — every walk is planned with purpose.

✅ Safety first, always – Checking harnesses/collars fit properly; ensuring every dog is comfortable and secure; carrying first aid kits, water, supplies, and emergency contacts. We’re trained to spot risks before they become problems.

✅ Training & behaviour work – This is the big one people often miss! Every walk is a training session. We work on loose lead walking, recall, focus, calmness around others, socialisation, and building confidence. We don’t just let them run — we guide them, reinforce good habits, and help dogs become happy, well-behaved companions. Many clients come to us because their dog struggles, and we help turn things around.

✅ Knowledge & expertise – We understand dog body language, breed traits, health needs, and how dogs learn. We study, take courses, and stay qualified so we can support each dog as an individual. We’re not just walking — we’re reading their mood, managing interactions, and adapting constantly.

✅ Behind-the-scenes work – There’s admin, bookings, client updates, detailed records, insurance, licensing, vehicle safety, and keeping owners fully informed after every visit. We build relationships with both ends of the lead!

✅ Patience, empathy & care – Some dogs are nervous, reactive, young and bouncy, older, or have health limits. We adapt every single walk to suit that dog. We give them the right mix of exercise, mental stimulation, and love — because for many, we’re their biggest adventure of the day.

So yes — we walk dogs… but we’re also trainers, safety experts, carers, planners, and behaviour supporters.

🌞 It is now officially Summer! 🌞

Although I'm not entirely convinced the weather got the memo... 🤔🌧️💨

One minute we're expecting sunshine, the next it feels like we're heading back into winter! 🥶☔

Despite the unpredictable weather, today's gang still enjoyed getting out and about. 🐾❤️

👑 Princess enjoyed her walk, taking everything at her own pace as usual.

🐶 Charlie was busy investigating every scent he could find – that nose never gets a day off!

🐾 Django was happy to be out exploring and taking in all the sights and smells.

🐕 Koba enjoyed stretching his legs and seeing what adventures the day had in store.

💙 Ollie was his usual cheerful self, making the most of his time outdoors.

Rain, wind, sunshine or all three at once... that's British Summer for you! 🇬🇧😂

👑Princess enjoyed taking her time, stopping to sniff all the important doggy news along the way. A gentle stroll just the way she likes it! 🌿🐾

🐕‍🦺Charlie was in another one of his sniffing missions! Nose down, tail wagging, making sure nothing escaped his attention. Detective Charlie was hard at work today! 🕵‍♂️🐾

June means more sniffy walks, wagging tails, training sessions, paddles in the water, enrichment games, and making happy memories with our four-legged friends 🦴🐶✨

✨ MY BUSINESS REVAMP ✨️

Hi, I'm Michelle, owner of TrainingPaws4U.

I wanted to revamp my business, and thanks to you, I already know exactly what I’m doing. But now I want to re-introduce myself properly. Basically — hi, I'm Michelle, owner of TrainingPaws4U. 🐾

Lately, I’ve felt stuck, not quite sure what direction to go in or which path to choose. I have given it a lot of thought, trust me! I’ve spent hours planning, weighing up options, and figuring out exactly what I want TrainingPaws4U to be.

So let me carry on and tell you all about it:

I am a professional dog trainer and walker, with 5 years of experience helping dogs and owners across Southampton. But I didn’t want to stop there — right now, I am currently studying to become a qualified Canine Behaviourist, so I can bring you even more knowledge, deeper understanding, and better results for every dog I work with.

I know having plans and implementing them is a big step — and honestly? Sometimes it doesn’t always go to plan! 🤷‍♀️ Things change, you learn new things, and you realise what really matters. But through all the thinking and all the planning, one thing never changed: I absolutely love what I do.

That’s why I’ve revamped everything. I’m clearer than ever on what I offer, and I’m ready to take TrainingPaws4U to the next level.

✅ I still offer reliable, fun Standard Dog Walking
✅ But my new signature service: Training Walks — exercise AND training combined, tailored exactly to your dog’s needs (priced as the specialist service it is!)
✅ Puppy packages, loose lead training, recall work, and help with jumping or bad manners
✅ Targeted support for reactive dogs, anxiety, or pulling on the lead
✅ And soon — once I finish my studies — I will be offering full Canine Behaviour Consultations for more complex challenges

Everything I do is based on kind, positive, reward-based training. I believe every dog can learn — they just need someone patient, skilled, and passionate to show them how.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far, and thank you for sticking with me while I worked it all out. I’m back, I’m better, I’m more qualified, and I’m ready to help you and your dog live your happiest life together.
