BE HEAT SAVVY!

Follow up-to-date info as our approach to heat related illness in dogs has changed…

We DO NOT COVER IN WET TOWELS

We DO USE COLD WATER

We DO USE ICY WATER FOR THE SEVERELY AFFECTED (collapsed, fitting, +/- bloody vomit/diarrhoea)

Cold water for the mild to moderately affected will not send them into shock. And for those severely affected, icy water will not shock them either as heatstroke is heat shock!

The old information is still doing the rounds, I have been updating any of my learning materials to ensure you are kept up dated ❤️

Newcomers Jarvis and Coco had their trial walk this week and it went exceptionally well! 🤗

I recently discovered this quote which perfectly aligns with my motto: Do Better. 🫶🏼

Dog behaviour absolutely fascinates me, and I love this statement because I feel dogs are so often misunderstood. 🐕

When I'm out on our walks, sometimes just observing teaches me so much about the way dogs interact with each other, and honestly, it's a joy to watch. 🐶

Every dog has something to teach you if you're willing to watch and listen. And you can never stop learning. 👌🏼💕

Southampton business has been named ‘Dog Walker of the Year’ in the southern region of the Animal Star Awards. Andrea Lampard, founder of the local dog walking service specialising in tailored walks for small breeds and spaniels, is delighted to receive recognition for her dedication to the health, happiness, and enrichment of the dogs in her care.

Small Paws Outdoors was founded by Andrea after a life-changing journey with her dog, Kobi. Adopted while Andrea was living in the Middle East, Kobi travelled with her across five countries to reach the UK - a journey that sparked Andrea’s passion for canine care.

When Kobi later developed a chronic respiratory condition, Andrea left full-time office work to spend more time with him and launched her own dog walking business. Small Paws Outdoors was born from a desire to provide calm, enrichment-led walks for dogs with individual needs - particularly small breeds and spaniels.

Drawing on her lived experience and love for animals, Andrea created a service that prioritises wellbeing, safety, and understanding. Her walks are structured, peaceful, and tailored to suit each dog’s physical and emotional needs. Since Kobi’s passing in 2023, Andrea continues to see Small Paws Outdoors as his legacy.

Fully insured, DBS checked, first aid certified, and committed to ongoing learning, Andrea also offers GPS tracking for peace of mind. She has a motto of “do better,” and hopes to set the standard for care-led, specialist dog walking in Hampshire.

To celebrate the award win, Small Paws Outdoors is now opening up new spaces for group walks and also has some exciting adventure walks planned for the high-energy dogs that require more than a standard walk.

My little Kobi bear may not be here with me in physical form now, but I'm sure as hell making sure his memory lives on! 🐶🫶🏼💞

This little dog may never realise the impact he's had on my life and how he's still helping me to bring the best pet care I can to small dogs and spaniels in and around Southampton. 🐾🐕

A woman who runs a Southampton-based small dog walking business in memory of her Pomeranian has been named the south's best
