🪱 LUNGWORM: THE SILENT THREAT EVERY DOG OWNER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT! 🐶🚨

Did you know your dog could be at risk of lungworm without you even realising? 😟

Our student Sienna has been researching this life-threatening parasite and wanted to share some important information with you all! 🩺🐾

🦠 Here’s something every dog owner needs to know: not all worming treatments protect against lungworm. Many products available without a prescription don’t cover it at all!

At Oval Pet Centre, we want to help you make informed choices about your dog’s health. Veterinary-strength parasite prevention can offer protection against lungworm that many over-the-counter products simply don’t provide. ❤️

Lungworm can cause serious illness, affecting blood clotting, breathing and the nervous system. Dogs can become infected by accidentally swallowing slugs or snails, including when eating grass or playing with toys.

Did you know that Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican tradition celebrating the lives of loved ones who have passed away? 💀🌼

Some families also create special tributes to their beloved pets, honouring the love and happiness they brought into their lives. 🐾❤️

🐾 9 Labradors walk into a vet practice… 🐶😂

No, it’s not the start of a joke… it was just a VERY cute day at the Oval! 🥹💛

Nine gorgeous Labrador puppies came to see our lead vet, Marta, for their FIRST vaccinations! 🐾🩺

🐾 A little extra love for Floyd ❤️

Little Floyd's past was particularly sad, having been rescued from the meat trade in China which left him with an old injury to his front leg and needing a dental procedure all at the age of one! 🥹

Knowing that staying in a hospital kennel could be unsettling for Floyd because of his past, his lovely owner made sure we were aware of his needs. Our nursing and reception teams took this to heart, taking it in turns to carry Floyd around and give him plenty of comfort and reassurance while he recovered, until he was ready to go home.

At our practice, we know that every patient is an individual, with their own story, experiences and needs. Sometimes, it's the little things that make the biggest difference, and for Floyd, that meant lots of cuddles, comfort and a few extra pairs of loving arms. 🐾💙

We were so happy to help Floyd feel safe and cared for during his visit. Here's to a lifetime of love, happiness and being thoroughly spoilt in the home he deserves! 🏡❤️

MILO, IS THAT YOU?! 🛸💙

Meet Milo, who visited our Sidcup branch last week for his castration with our lovely vet Jamila! He was such a good boy, and our nursing team fell head over heels for him. 🥹🐾

But the best bit? His recovery look! 😂 With his blanket wrapped around his head, he was giving us serious ET vibes. Someone get this boy a spaceship! 🚀👽

💙 But what are the benefits of castration?

🐾 Prevents testicular cancer.
🐾 Can reduce the risk of some prostate problems.
🐾 Prevents unwanted litters.
🐾 May help with certain hormone-driven behaviours

However, castration isn’t the right choice for every dog! 🐶 Age, breed, health and behaviour all play a part, and it’s not a guaranteed fix for behavioural concerns.
