Some goodbyes are never easy.
After almost 19 years, the time has come for me to say goodbye to Vets for Pets Crayford.
Being a vet has always been much more than just a job for me. It has been a privilege to meet so many amazing people and their wonderful pets. I have been there for happy moments, when you brought your new puppy or kitten for the first time, and for the hardest moments, when together we had to say goodbye to a much-loved family member.
Over the years I have met thousands of incredible animals. Every single one was different, and every one of them was deeply loved. Thank you for trusting me with their care. Thank you for coming back year after year. Thank you for every kind word, every card, every box of chocolates, every photo update and every hug. You probably don't realise how much those small things meant to me, especially on difficult days.
As vets, we don't just remember diagnoses or surgeries. We remember names. We remember wagging tails, loud purrs, funny personalities and the quiet moments when there were simply no words. Those memories stay with us forever.
Now it is my turn to say goodbye.
I am excited for what is ahead, but I leave with a very heavy heart. Crayford has been my second home for almost two decades, and a part of me will always stay here.
If I managed to make even one animal feel a little better, or helped even one family through a difficult time, then I know these 19 years truly meant something.
Thank you for letting me be part of your stories. Thank you for your trust, your kindness and your friendship.
I wish you and all your furry family members many happy, healthy years together, and as few reasons as possible to visit the vet.
Take care of yourselves, and give your pets an extra cuddle from me.
From the bottom of my heart... thank you for everything.
