Meet D.O.G. 🐾
Death or Glory – and he lived up to the name.
Born October 1908 💙
Served through WWI as a working military mascot alongside Lt. H.F. Clark at POW Camp, Eastgate, Co Durham.
D.O.G. wasn’t just a pet. He was morale on four legs. Through the hard years of war and captivity, his presence kept spirits up when things looked bleak.
He passed in February 1918, but his story didn’t end there.
Gifted by Mr J.E. Tebbutt, D.O.G. is now remembered at Weardale Museum, Stanhope, where his legacy lives on.
A true Bulldog. A true soldier’s mate.
Never forgotten. Never replaced.
