Training winning racehorses for over 60 years

Hidden within the spectacular countryside of North Yorkshire, north of York, lie the stables of one of Britain's most famous racehorse trainers. Now holding a dual licence with son David, Mick Easterby has trained over 2,400 winners since taking out a licence in 1961. All of the horses trained here at Mick & David Easterby Racing are treated as indivi

duals and the welfare of the horses is paramount to the workings of the stable. If you're interested Mick and David would be glad to help you purchase perhaps a future champion sprinter or even a Grand National winner, and benefit from their many years of experience of buying and training talented bloodstock. We have vast experience in running racing clubs where racing enthusiasts share the thrills of racehorse ownership by owning smaller shares in several horses. Please contact us if you wish to discuss setting up a racing club with Mick and David.

Twelve amateur jockeys will take part in the Ernest Cooper Macmillan Ride of their Lives 2026 on Saturday 13 June 2025 at York Racecourse. The charity race is one of the highlights of Macmillan Charity Raceday, the single biggest fundraising event for the charity which has raised over £10m since its inception.

This is a huge challenge taking dedication and determination, and your support is crucial to help the team raise as much as possible for vital cancer services.

I currently work for York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a physiotherapist within primary care in Selby.

I was brought up in Middleton Pony Club, taking part in all disciplines from a young age before progressing into competitive riding. I spent five seasons point-to-pointing and achieved five winners. Over the last seven years, my focus has shifted to endurance sport, particularly triathlon, and I completed an Ironman in 2025. While my training has diversified, I have maintained a strong foundation in riding and horsemanship and am excited to return to the sport in this very special setting.

I would like to thank my grandad, Mick Easterby, and my uncle, David, for providing me with a horse. I would also love to emulate my sister, Jo Mason, and make it into the winners’ enclosure.
