I never knew how precious it is to have an old dog. And I was truly blessed with this gift. Don’t matter how hard it was in the last few months, if I had to do it all over again I would in a heartbeat.

He lays in a bed of straw… with a rope toy and a collar. Because he doesn’t need a synthetic blanket, he has nature looking after him now. In return his energy will grow this tree. Hopefully to be the stronger oak there ever was.

Grief comes without asking.
Just when you think it’s getting easier, it stops you in your tracks.

It takes your breath away, and for a moment there’s nothing you can do but let it wash over you.

You hope that one day this crushing pain will soften into a warm feeling in my heart.
That memories of him will bring a smile instead of tears.
That I’ll be able to say his name and feel gratitude instead of the ache.

I will welcome that day.

But today is not that day.
