Last night I was having a conversation with a friend who works in the health industry.

One thing that resonated is, if you unapologetically stand for something, you've got to stand against something else.

So I'm back at my desk today, formulating products for an industry that too often mistakes conventional thinking for innovation, while trying to disrupt the archaic business model of supplement manufacturers, that allows ineffective products onto shelves.

P.S Something new is coming soon.....

This is Sylas, he’s a 6 month old male Lab though I suspect there may be a bit of spaniel somewhere ! He’s looking for a new home due to family commitments. I personally met him today, a little shy at first but not long before he makes friends. He’s naturally quite lively and going through those puppy stages, crate trained and travels well. Fully inoculated. Currently in the Tavistock area. Lives with children. Please message me if you are genuinely interested. Ideally needs an active home, not left all day , experience with dogs would be useful. Lovely natured dog.

When I was 18, I was hit by a car and suffered one of the worst ankle breaks the surgeons had seen. I ended up with pins and plates holding it together, and honestly, I narrowly escaped my entire leg being shattered thanks to the shoes I was wearing that day (that’s a story for another time).

Back then, they told me I’d almost certainly end up with chronic arthritis within 10 years, a concept you don't fully appreciate at 18.

They were right.

As the years went on, my mobility decreased and pain became debilitating. As a main weight bearing joint there was no escaping having to use it. Walking, standing, exercising. Everything revolves around it.

I tried all the normal routes with supplements but none of them touched my pain and I was having to alter my exercise choices to accommodate the pain. At the time I hadn't yet formulated a human range and my own mobility struggle was actually the reason behind creating FlexHA.

I was desperate and exhausted from the impact on my life so I used all my knowledge and experience in formulation to create something to improve my quality of life. On a selfish note, it was made for me, with ingredients included at levels I believed could actually make a difference.

I trialled it on myself first and to my relief found within 2 weeks that my symptoms significantly improved so I rolled it out on trial to customers who had very specific joint issues where other options hadn't helped. The feedback was honestly incredible, so I put the product into manufacture and rolled it out to help more people.

To this day, FlexHA is still essential for maintaining my joint health and helping keep discomfort under control. As time’s gone on, I’ve also taken a more multifaceted approach and added in other supplements from the range alongside it, including Boswellia and UC-II Collagen.

People often ask why I care so much about formulations and why I’m obsessive over ingredient levels and quality.

This is why.

Because I know firsthand what it’s like when your joints stop you living normally!

We need to stop normalising underdosed joint supplements and clever marketing.

Giving ineffective levels of ingredients is not ok. So why do so many joint supplements get away with it?

Because most people don't know what to look for.

Do you want to give the best joint support for your dog? Of course you do.

All you need to do is take a few minutes to understand how to read a product label.

If you see"Glucosamine" on the label don't assume this makes it good. The hope is that you won't look for the active levels. The dose could be a fraction of what's actually needed.

Brands know this. They rely on it.

Low doses = higher margins. Add a few buzzwords, a nice looking label, and you might not question it.

But your dog pays the price.

Underdosed = Ineffective. Full stop.

But you can turn this around for your dog in a matter of minutes.

1️⃣ Look on the label for the ingredients list. Ingredients have to be listed in order of inclusion so if the first ingredient listed is sugar, cellulose, wheat or any other filler, you're probably already facing an uphill struggle.

2️⃣ Look for the amount of each ingredient per scoop. If they don't provide this look for amount per 100g.

3️⃣ x the amount per scoop by how many scoops you need to feed to get your daily amount. So if its 1g of Glucosamine per scoop and you need 2 scoops it would be 1 x 2.

If a brand won't tell you the exact daily dose of each ingredient, or even tell you the exact ingredients, ask yourself why.

For a medium dog you need:
Glucosamine to be provided around 1500mg or higher.
MSM to be provided around 1500mg or higher.
Chondroitin to be provided around 700mg or higher.
Green Lipped Mussel to be provided around 1200mg or higher.

200mg, 300mg, 400mg is simply not effective. Feeding something is NOT better than nothing at all when fed at these low levels.

We list everything. Every ingredient. Every level. No hiding.

It is absolutely possible to provide effective joint care. Knowledge is power!
