If you are a regular visitor to Splash Doggy you will already be aware that the pool temperature can fluctuate depending on the air temperature 🌡

But if you are new to us, or are thinking of booking a session for the first time, please bear this in mind.

The water is heated via an air source heat pump. (And I have the electricity bill to prove it 🤣)

Obviously, when the air temperature is lower, it will take longer to heat the pool. We also have to top the water up daily as some is lost through cleaning and the dogs splashing and shaking. This is a cold water top up 🥶

The pool temp is currently around 20°C
To give you some comparisons....

In December/January
The North Sea averages 6-9°C
Rivers/inland water average 2-8°C
Fitness/competition swimming pools for humans operate around 26°C
In Open water swimming, a temperature of 17-20°C is considered 'comfortable'
Hot tubs average 38-40°C

If your dog is happy swimming in lakes/rivers/the sea in the summer, then the pool temperature is similar to this, and your dog will likely enjoy their swim. However, the air temperature is very cold so once they are wet they will chilll quickly so bring lots of towels/blankets/a drying coats for the journey home to stop them getting cold.

Please carefully consider bringing very young puppies, elderly dogs, or smaller breeds as they will be more susceptible to the cold.

For humans entering the pool it will feel chilly. Wetsuits are recommended, but not necessary if you are feeling brave! Remember, you do not have to get into the pool with your dog as I am always ready to get in the pool.
