Please, never leave your dog in a parked car. Not even for "just 5 minutes."

A car can become dangerously hot incredibly quickly:
🌡️ 22°C outside = over 47°C inside a car within an hour
🌡️ On warmer days, temperatures can soar above 50°C in minutes

This can lead to:
🔥 Heatstroke
💔 Organ failure
🧠 Brain damage
⚠️ Collapse
☠️ Death

Cracking a window open or parking in the shade is NOT enough to keep your pet safe.

Signs of heatstroke include:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Drooling
🐾 Bright red gums
🐾 Weakness or collapse
🐾 Vomiting
🐾 Confusion or seizures

If your dog doesn't need to come with you, the safest place for them is at home, where they can stay cool and comfortable.

No shopping trip, errand, or quick stop is worth risking your pet's life.

🐶 If you see a dog in distress in a hot car, act quickly and seek assistance immediately.

Did you know that many pets drink more water when it's flowing rather than sitting still in a bowl?

Water fountains can be a fantastic way to encourage hydration, especially in cats! 🐱

💙 Why is drinking so important for cats?

Cats naturally have a low thirst drive because their wild ancestors got most of their water from their prey. This means many cats don't drink enough, which can increase their risk of:

⚠️ Urinary problems
⚠️ Bladder stones
⚠️ Cystitis (bladder inflammation)
⚠️ Kidney disease

Good hydration helps support healthy kidneys and urinary tract function throughout your cat's life.

🐾 Fun fact: Many cats don't like their water bowl being next to their food! In the wild, water sources near food could become contaminated, so many cats instinctively prefer their water to be in a separate location.

Artificial grass can become much hotter than the air temperature, reaching 50–70°C+ in direct sunlight. At these temperatures, your pet's paw pads can burn in seconds.

🔥 Watch out for:
• Limping
• Licking at paws
• Red, swollen or blistered pads
• Reluctance to walk

✅ Keep paws safe:
• Use the 5-second test – if it's too hot for the back of your hand, it's too hot for paws.
• Provide shade and fresh water.
• Hose down astroturf before use.
• Avoid outdoor play during the hottest part of the day. • Choose cooler surfaces where possible.

🚨 If you think your pet has burned their paws, cool the area with cool water and contact your vet for advice.
