Meet Milo - a very handsome, gentle wolfhound who came into the surgery this morning for a cardiac scan with Senior Vet Luke! Milo spent most of his scan having a snooze. We don't blame him in this heat! This lovely lad will soon be jetting off with his humans and fur-siblings to live in Colorado, USA. We'll miss you, gorgeous Milo! 🥰

🌡️ Heatwave incoming — and if you’re feeling it, your dog definitely is too 🐶☀️

Hot weather can become dangerous for dogs very quickly, especially for puppies, older dogs, flat-faced breeds, and pets with underlying health conditions.

As temperatures rise, remember:

💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🌳 Walk early morning or later evening when it’s cooler
🔥 Avoid hot pavements — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
🏠 Keep pets cool indoors and out of direct heat
🚨 Watch for signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or collapse.

Meet Roxy - our sponsored Support Dogs puppy! 💙 Sue Lodge (Head of People at The Pet Vet) recently visited Roxy, who is undergoing her in-depth training with the Support Dogs team.

This tiny pup will quite literally transform the life of her future owner, providing assistance, comfort and giving them independence. We're so excited to hear updates on Roxy's progress as she grows from his gorgeous bundle to a fully-fledged support dog!

In the meantime, our colleagues are committing to even more fundraising challenges and events so we can continue to raise vital funds for this amazing charity!

Labrador Freddie recently came in to see us for a CT scan. 🐾 Here's his story, through his point of view! Our 128-slice CT scanner is based at The Pet Vet Rotherham but we accept referrals from the surrounding area, including our surgeries located in Barnsley, Doncaster, Lincoln and Nottingham. We're now offering CT scans at a cost of £1,500 (this includes general anaesthetic, fluids, the scan itself and interpretation).
