Hope everyone is well and enjoying this lovely weather! Nice to have some sun and warmth for a change ☀

I’ve got two announcements, neither of which will be particularly welcome â˜č

Firstly, as of the 1st April our prices are going up by a ÂŁ1. So one cat will now be ÂŁ12, two cats ÂŁ19 and three cats ÂŁ24, per day. Of course if you wish to provide your own food then the cost will be discounted by 10%.

Secondly (and I’m absolutely dreading it), we are having a new kitchen fitted. It’s going to be chaos I won’t lie 😂 Please bear with us, the workmen, dust and bedlam that will ensue.

Our lane coming up from the main A4042 opposite the Goytre Arms is going to be closed from the 30th Sept-4th October.

The back roads in (via Mamhilad if coming from Pontypool or Saron Road if coming from Abergavenny ) are both open so you’ll need to use one of those routes.
If you’re not sure how to get to us because of the closure then please give us a ring and we can help.

The access to the cattery from the back road is currently closed and will be for a few days apparently as they fill in the potholes.

So whether you’re travelling from Abergavenny or Pontypool you will need to come into Goytre village and turn up the lane opposite the Goytre Arms pub.

Please, please can I ask that you check our opening hours and respect them (99.9% of you do, this is not aimed at you!) They are on our website, our page and on Google.
If you do come out of hours, whether by accident or design and find that the cattery is closed please return when we are open. Just because I live on-site does not make it ok to come and knock the house door.
Tonight at ten to 6 I had just sat down in my dressing gown with my tea on my lap when there was a knock at the door. A customer decided they HAD to have their cat back tonight despite knowing the cattery was closed.
I understand the house is not the same without your babies and you are desperate to get them home but please also respect my time away from the cattery. Other than Bank Holidays we are open 7 days a week so you don’t have to wait for too long until we are next open.

I’m really sorry to be having a moan but this happens more than you would think.

Some of you may have been wondering where I’d been recently as I pretty much took an extended leave of absence from the cattery.

Back in October we received the devastating news that my dad’s cancer was back and this time there was nothing they could do to help him.
I really struggled with it, some days I could barely drag myself out of bed other days I just couldn’t put a brave face on for people.
I was already grieving for a future that didn’t have my father in it.

Sadly on Friday my dad passed away, at home and peacefully.

I know many of you knew him and thought highly of him. He always had a smile on his face and liked a natter.

I would like to thank my amazing staff Kim, Bob, Nia, and Harri for helping me out so much and just getting on with things without me having to worry.

Special thanks go to my husband Chris for the constant support and providing his shoulder for a good cry on, and my fantastic right-hand woman Amy who has gone above and beyond for me and without whom I wouldn’t have been able to spend these last few months with my dad. I could relax knowing all the cats and customers were in safe hands.

I may be away for a little while longer as I come to terms with things, but I hope to see you all soon.

I do wish all my fantastic customers, old and new, a Merry Christmas. Love to you all, Kelli x
