Another great workshop today in 50 acre wood. Amazing hunting ground for the spaniels, testing the sit and steadiness to shot, steadiness to retrieves and other dogs retrieving passed them. Many retrieve scenarios for all, some blinds down 10ft drops and across a drain, over ditches and fallen logs, bracken and ferns. It was a really enjoyable session, we had a bit of rain but in between brilliant sunshine and very pretty bluebells 🪻🪻🪻. A great place to train. Can’t wait for the next one in June.

Attention long post

WEDNESDAY WORKSHOPS
April to August 2026
Open to all - you do not have to attend our classes. Can be a great introduction to group sessions as these workshop groups are small.
There are lesson plans for each workshop, these are a guide as things can change a little depending on the training levels of dogs and handlers attending on the day and tailored accordingly.
Proving to be very popular, time can be used to break down information and exercises-no two dogs/handlers are the same!
We often hear that I didn't know what to do next when this happened. There are many ways to train a thing. The more techniques, exercises and training experience you gain; will give you the knowledge and confidence to recognise when something isn't going quite right and more importantly what to do about it.

For the more experienced dogs and handlers we can work on any weak areas in your training and the workshop set ups & scenarios including jumps, water and changing ground help to motivate and push you towards your training goals.
Over the next few weeks there will be various workshops specialising in specific training topics.
We may use multi dummy launchers, droppers, sound boxes, bolting rabbit electronics equipment and cold game, flying birds during these sessions.
Workshops are below: -

SUMMER COMPETITIONS 2026

WGA Test Challenges.
You do not have to attend our training or classes to enter.

Open to all handlers with ANY breed of gundog. These competitions give you a great experience and are an excellent introduction to a competitive environment. They also give you the opportunity to proof your training and for both you and your dog to gain confidence under test conditions, all with the chance of winning rosettes & prizes.

These competitions are suitable for all handlers and dogs, ideal if you and your dog are beginners to competing. Dogs need to be under control off lead in open countryside.
These tests are not Kennel Club registered competitions, so in addition to all Kennel Club registered dogs, any breed of gundog not registered can enter too. The competitions are run under WGA rules and not KC rules.

A competition a month from April to August . You can book to attend just one, more or all of the five test challenge events. A great way to enjoy time with your dog.

Each challenge competition will include 2 x runs on multiple tests with different set ups. Setups and scenarios change each month which can include marked/blind/nominated/multiple retrieves. Each run is scored and the scores from ALL of the runs will be added together to give you your final score for the day. The highest scores will be awarded rosettes (1st - 3rd). In the event of equal scores, there will be run offs to decide the 1st to 3rd placings. Additionally points are awarded to all attendees to be accumulated over the 5 events to find the points league winner which is awarded at the August event or posted out to you if you were the winner but could not attend that day.

Test competitions are set in Wolds countryside grounds and over the 5 monthly events, scenarios can include changes in environment / ground, jumps and retrieves from water.

We supply drinks, nibbles and cake, all in a friendly atmosphere.
