Sometimes asking the difficult question “is my dog’s quality of life good enough?” can lead to amazing outcomes!

This morning I was able to guide my patient’s owners towards arthritis pain relief instead of them having to say their final goodbyes.

It can be so easy to avoid thinking or talking about something so hard, but when pet guardians approach this critically it can open doors to wonderful things like improved pain management, surgery that you didn’t know was an option, and most importantly more quality time with your pet.

Calling us out does not mean you have to go through with the decision to put your pet to sleep, your deposit covers a home visit consultation where we can discuss your pet’s health, symptoms and whether we think there are any avenues for treatment that you could still explore.

This is your decision, but we are here to facilitate difficult conversations if you need some help and guidance.

“We recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to put our beloved dog, Harley, to sleep. Harley had always hated the vet’s, and when his struggles became too much, we were relieved to learn that this could be done at home, in a place where he felt safe and loved.

From the moment I spoke to Nirvana, they completely understood our predicament and the fact that we wanted the best for our fur baby. Harley came to us as I felt, a rescue puppy, and I always felt he carried the sadness of being the last puppy left behind. Despite his anxiety, he was incredibly clever, loved cuddling anywhere he could be close to us, adored his ball and loved attention from visitors.

Kate was amazing and truly put my mind at ease. Harley was completely unaware of what was happening and carried on as normal, cuddling on his favourite sofa with me, happily content, snoring and dreaming as he peacefully went.

I cannot recommend Nirvana enough. Their compassion and professionalism made an unbearably difficult experience gentle and loving. I’ve already shared their details with others who have been deeply moved by our story.

We recently received this beautiful photo and tribute to Buddy, one of our recent patients 💚 He was a very loved dog, a huge part of our family who is greatly missed, his passing has left a massive hole in our hearts.

Buddy - Born 27th May 2014 Went to sleep 18th July 2025

He joined our family as an 8 week old pup and changed our lives from that day on. He was a good boy and picked things up quickly, we had an easy time training him because of this.
He was full of fun and had boundless energy.
Buddy loved to go on long walks in the woods and also enjoyed his trips to the beach where he would love a good swim, he would always manage to find the biggest cow pat or dead fish to roll himself in and would be disappointed when he came home for a shower. We have so many happy memories to hold on to.

Our family would like to thank you for the kind, compassionate & dignified way that you helped Bud to leave this world. Although we are heartbroken I think it was the kindest thing for my boy.

Nirvana Vets 💚 Gentle goodbyes at home

We truly believe that the pain of the hardest part of pet ownership can be eased by saying goodbye in the right way. Surrounded by family, in their own bed, garden or on their sofa… The memories you keep of those final moments matter. Most importantly though, how your pet feels in those final moments matters.

This is why *who* you trust with those final moments is so important. We’re Kate and Sam, and we set up Nirvana Vets 4 years ago. Since then, we have helped hundreds of pets along their journey in the gentlest way possible. But there’s more to us than just being vets. We love the outdoors, we’ve just moved into a very old house that we are passionate about restoring and we’re also pet parents ourselves to two standard poodles who are our whole world, so we understand how much your pet means to you.

Just know that we're here if you need us, but we hope that you won't for many years to come. Give your pets a big hug from us tonight 💚 ###

On Valentine's Day we’re reminded to appreciate those who we love, including our pets, both past and present ❤️ Whether they are by our side today or in our hearts forever, the love we share with our animals is like no other 🐾

This past year, both Kate and I have experienced the heartbreaking loss of our childhood valentines—my beloved black lab Hector and Kate’s German Shepard cross, Bertie. These two loyal companions were a big part of our lives, and their memories continue to hold a special place in our hearts. 💔

We truly understand the depth of the bond we share with our pets, and it's always at the forefront of our minds when we provide our service 🌈 If you’re navigating the difficult journey of saying goodbye to a pet, know that we’re here to help in any way we can, offering support with compassion and care. 🤍

We’re Back! 🎉

It’s been a while since we’ve posted, and we owe you all an explanation! We've been very busy recently moving home 🏡 and tying the knot last year 💍—a lot of big changes, but all exciting things! 🥳

We apologize for the radio silence here on Facebook, but we want you to know we’re still very much around and looking forward to connecting with you again. Moving forward, we’re going to make a big effort to be more active and keep you all in the loop with everything we’ve been up to.
