🔥🐾 BBQ Safety Reminder for Pet Owners 🐾🔥
With BBQ season in full swing and the sunshine finally here ☀️, we just wanted to share a few important reminders to help keep your pets safe during summer gatherings 💙🐶🐱🐰

🍔 BBQ foods can be dangerous for pets!
Please keep tempting treats well out of reach, especially:
🌽 Corn on the cob – a very common cause of dangerous blockages in dogs
🍗 Meat bones – can splinter and cause choking or internal injuries
🧅 Onions & garlic – toxic to pets
🍫 Chocolate desserts
🍺 Alcoholic drinks
🍢 Skewers & cocktail sticks

☀️ Heat can become dangerous very quickly
Make sure pets always have access to:
💧 Fresh water
🌳 Shade
❄️ Cool indoor spaces if needed

🚨 Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can happen even in temperatures that may not feel overly hot to us.

🎉 Don’t forget the stress factor too!
BBQs can sometimes feel overwhelming for pets due to:
🔊 Loud noises and music
🚪 People constantly coming and going
🏃 Children running around
🐾 Doors and gates being left open, increasing escape risks

Some pets may prefer a quiet, calm room away from the excitement — and that’s absolutely okay 💙

We understand that communication can sometimes feel difficult, especially if English is not your first language or if you need additional support during appointments. Please never hesitate to let us know — we will always do our absolute best to help where we can 💙

You are also more than welcome to bring an interpreter, family member, friend, or advocate along to your appointment to help support communication 💙🐾

⚠️ We do just need to be aware if someone else will be signing forms on your behalf, and we will need your consent for this to be done.

Our goal is to make sure both you and your pets feel as comfortable and supported as possible when visiting us 🐶🐱🐰✨

☀️🐾 A little warm weather reminder from the team 🐾☀️
With temperatures rising, we know travelling with pets can sometimes feel a little worrying — especially for brachycephalic breeds, older pets, nervous pets, and small furries 💙

Please remember that if you have a routine appointment booked and are concerned about bringing your pet out in the heat, give us a call and we will always do our best to help 🌡️🐶🐱

✨ Where possible, we may be able to:
🐾 Move your appointment to a cooler part of the day
🐾 Offer alternative times
🐾 Help make your visit as comfortable as possible for your pet
🚨 Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can happen much quicker than people realise — even on days that may not feel “that hot” to us.

💧 Keep pets cool, provide plenty of fresh water, avoid walking during peak temperatures, and never leave pets in vehicles.

☀️🐶 Heatstroke can become life-threatening very quickly in pets, and with the warmer weather this weekend we want to remind everyone to keep their furry friends safe 💛🐾

🌡️ Signs of heatstroke can include:
🐕 Excessive panting
💤 Lethargy or weakness
🤢 Drooling or vomiting
🫨 Wobbling or collapse
🩸 Bright red gums

🚫 Please avoid walking dogs during the hottest parts of the day — if the pavement is too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws!
💧 Make sure pets always have access to fresh water and shade, and never leave them in a car, even for a few minutes.

🐰 Remember smaller pets too! Rabbits, guinea pigs and cats can also struggle in the heat.

If you’re worried your pet may be suffering from heatstroke, contact us immediately ☎️🐾

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly this weekend 🌞💙
