Following on from our earlier post, if you do volunteer for us, our incredible dog trainer, Charlie (Houghton's Hounds - Dog Training and Puppy Classes) is offering this invaluable class FREE OF CHARGE to help those who regularly interact with dogs to better understand them.

Charlie is frequently on site offering her help and expertise, for which we are incredibly grateful, so we’re absolutely delighted that she is going to be sharing her knowledge with others…so don’t miss out on this opportunity to take part in what promises to be an extremely informative session!

As we reach the end of the team here at WARS would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the amazing people who give up their time to help us to help animals in need!

We are incredibly blessed with an amazing team of volunteers who show up day in, day out, come rain or shine, to help us in our cattery and kennels with feeding and cleaning, walking dogs, spending time with the cats, helping in our shop and covering reception.

Then there are our fosterers who open up their homes to those animals for whom the Shelter isn’t the ideal environment, the people who give up their time to help make our events a huge success and our board of trustees who give their time to ensure the smooth running of the charity.

We truly couldn’t achieve all that we do without the help of our volunteers, so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you! 🙏

Regular followers of our page may recall our appeal for a home for senior Staffy, Deano…he wasn’t coping at all well in kennels, desperately craving human company, love and attention.

Well, we’re delighted to say that that is exactly what he found in his foster home…which soon became his forever home…and just look at him now, living his best life and loving it!

Thank you so much to Deano’s fabulous family who have transformed this lovely boy’s life, proving how rewarding it can be to take on an older animal!

Poor Maisie is feeling a little bewildered after her owner, who has loved her very much indeed, was sadly taken into hospital and could no longer care for her.

She is 6 years old, and her world has been turned upside down by first losing her beloved human and then losing the home she has always known. The cattery is understandably rather overwhelming after the slow, quiet pace of life she has been used to, in a home where she enjoyed being able to come and go as she pleased, enjoying her garden and her home comforts. That said, she is coping admirably and showing her sweet side already, head bumping in response to gentle stroking, and coming out to tentatively explore before retreating to the safety of her bed.

From the history we have, we know that Maisie has a level of independence, loving the outdoors, but she does enjoy fuss and attention, a lap to snuggle on and even the opportunity to join her chosen human in bed under the duvet. Anyone interested in adopting her must be amenable to sharing their bed with this lovely lady!

She is nervous of loud noises and fast movements, and has led quite an insular life, just accustomed to it being her and her human in a quiet home, and the field beyond her garden (where she loved spending time). We are therefore seeking a home with no other animals, and any children must be over 12 and calm and cat-savvy.

Safe outdoor access is important to Maisie (a semi-rural/rural setting with a garden would be perfect).

She will make the most amazing companion for a single person or couple, or even a quiet family with older children. Maisie just needs calm, stability and love.

Please complete our online form if you think you could offer this to her.

This completely adorable little poppet is Barley, who is 9 weeks old and is guaranteed to melt some hearts! Playful, affectionate and extremely people orientated, Barley really is the whole package!

He’s not enjoying being alone, so we’re seeking a home where people are ready to proceed with adoption as soon as possible. He would benefit hugely from another young cat to play with, and he will need a family where there is someone around for him for most of the day, as he does demonstrate some separation related vocalisation.

We feel he should be fine with school-age children (just watch out for those super-spiky kitten claws as he does like to dig them into your lap when you’re giving him cuddles!), and living with a cat-friendly dog is a possibility, given slow, steady introductions.

Barley has been chipped, neutered and has had his first vaccination-the cost of his second vaccination will be covered by us at our vets in Malvern.

Potential adopters should be prepared for the commitment and financial demands that come with adopting a cat, who can live to 20+ years. They should also be able to provide Barley with safe indoor and outdoor access once he is old enough to go outside and explore.

He really is the most delightful little chap, who just thrives on contact and company, so please get in touch if you can offer him his forever home!
