With this beautiful weather we’re set for this next week or so, it’s important to be mindful of how it can negatively impact upon your beloved dogs.

🌡️☀️Please opt for walks either early in the morning, or later on in the evening, when it is cooler. (See the guide for temperatures)
💦Make sure they have plenty of fresh drinking water available
😎Provide them with a cool, shaded safe space to lounge in
🐾🦴Limit the amount of running around they do to prevent overheating
🤒Be on the lookout for signs of heatstroke and seek veterinary advice if you think your dog may be suffering from it
Keep your dog at home, in the cool and provide plenty of fresh drinking water

Shorter faced breeds such as Pugs, French Bulldogs, Shih Tzus, Boxers etc will struggle more so do be extra careful 💗

Handstripping Wire Coated Breeds

What is it ?
Handstripping is the removal of dead coat from the follicle, by hand (pulling). Sometimes we use tools such as stripping knives/stones to assist the process. It does NOT hurt the dog at all if done correctly.

Why do it?
It allows for the healthy growth of new hair, maintaining the natural texture and colour and weatherproofing of the coat.

Who is it suitable for ?
Dogs must have a suitable coat- ie harsh and wirey. You must be prepared to bring your dog to be groomed at no longer than 7 week intervals, plus maintain the coat well at home with regular carding (removal of undercoat) and brushing of furnishings. The process takes much longer than clipping does, so you must be prepared to pay more for this technique. Your dog must also be fully accepting of the process, and show zero signs of aggression, pain or discomfort.

What can affect results ?
Neutering, diet, health issues such as thyroid problems can all impact upon the coat and its ability to be handstripped. The coat may become thicker, tougher to pull and therefore cause discomfort or render it unable to be stripped. Not looking after coat in between sessions can cause the coat to be matted or too much work to be carried out in one session without causing discomfort. A dog which hasn’t been groomed regularly or introduced to the process from early on in its life may find it uncomfortable or stressful due to the time the grooms take and so it will not be suitable.

Handstripping is a commitment, not just a grooming process!

After all of his life being Handstripped, today it was finally time for this old fella to be clipped. A few recent health issues have meant that Ted’s patience and tolerance to being stripped has all but disappeared so we’ve chosen to put his welfare over vanity. However, doesn’t he still look super dapper!
This boy will always be so special to me 💙

As of Monday 20th April, there will be an adjustment in prices. I do understand that prices are increasing everywhere, but unfortunately that does impact upon us as a business, and so we can no longer absorb these costs.

The increase will be £5 across all services, except for Large Dogs, Handstripping and those with behavioural issues, where it will be £10. All prices are based on an individual basis determined by coat type, behaviour and coat condition, and time between grooms.

So excited to finally meet George Michael, owned by my longest standing clients who’ve trusted me with their previous (and so missed) doggy Dexter, and now the newest member of the gang.
