Cheeky Henry worked up quite the appetite after a fun-filled day at doggy daycare - so much so that he helped himself to an entire container of kibble when he got home when his owner wasn't looking! 😶

Henry ended up vomiting and with a very swollen belly. He was taken to our Vets Now Manchester Hospital - where he was X-rayed to find a very full stomach, but thankfully it wasn't twisted.

Our team kept him in overnight on fluids and medication to get his digestion back on track - and after 12 hours of care and cuddles, Henry was well enough to head home 🐶🐾

Summer means more time outdoors for our pets - and while we can’t wait to enjoy the sunshine, it also brings hidden risks. 🌞🐾

From heatstroke and toxic plants to BBQ scraps, the warmer months can pose serious dangers for our furry friends, sometimes leading to emergencies.

That’s why it’s important to know where your nearest Vets Now clinic is, just in case.

Meet Molly - the 6 month old Shih Tzu who came into our Vets Now Glasgow Hospital after a freak accident involving a reclining chair.

After the incident Molly seemed okay at home - however, as time passed, her family noticed she was struggling to breathe.

She was then rushed to our hospital and was seen by our ECC team, who immediately placed her on oxygen. Molly stayed with us for the next three days, where she received intensive monitoring, diagnostics and supportive care - and made a remarkable recovery.

Molly is now home and back to her happy, playful self ❤️🐾

Many popular blooms are toxic to pets, so it’s important to keep them out of paw’s reach from curious cats and playful pups. 🐱🐶

When Bowie the Miniature Dachshund was stung on the mouth by a wasp, he collapsed almost instantly leaving his owner, Emily, panicked and rushing to get him emergency help. 🚨

Thankfully, because she acted so quickly and our team at Blaise Referrals jumped into action, Bowie got the urgent care he needed and made a full recovery.

Wasp and bee stings can cause, in some cases, severe reactions in dogs, especially smaller breeds, and we’re seeing more cases like this each year. 🐝

You never know what surprises the day may bring, and for one of our neighbours at our Glasgow Hospital, that surprise came in the form of two tiny ducklings falling from the 18th floor during their lunch break! 🦆

Thankfully, these fluffy little adventurers were quickly scooped up and brought to our team for a check-up. After a clean bill of health, they waddled off to start their next chapter in a loving new home.

It is important to note you should not return a nestling to its nest if it is injured or unwell. Not only might it need medical attention, but it might have been rejected from the nest and returning it will do more harm than good. Instead, contact a wildlife rescue centre for advice. ❤️

Socialising your kitten is one of the best things you can do to set them up for a happy, confident life 🐾

The first few months are a crucial window where kittens learn what’s safe in their world - from people and pets, to sounds and handling.

Remember - every kitten is different, so take it slow and keep things positive. Small, consistent steps now lead to a calm and well-adjusted adult cat. 🐱

Ticks are blood-sucking parasites that can carry harmful diseases, so it’s important to get them off your pet quickly and safely. In most cases, you can handle this at home with typically no visit to the vet needed.

Just make sure what you're removing is actually a tick (look for tiny legs!) and not a wart or ni**le, then follow our 6 simple steps to remove them.

👇 Save this post for future reference and make sure to share it with other pet owners.

Meet Tess, a sweet 6-month-old Collie pup who recently had quite a scare. ❤️‍🩹

After a frightening hay bale accident on the farm, Tess was brought to our emergency and critical care department in our Glasgow hospital in a critical state, with serious injuries and breathing difficulties.

She spent the next six days in hospital, receiving intensive treatment and constant care from our dedicated team - including scans, chest drains, and round-the-clock monitoring.

With her strength and a lot of TLC, Tess is now well on the road to recovery. Just a few weeks later, here she is - back to her happy, playful self. 🥰🐾
