🎆🐾 FIREWORK SAFETY: KEEP YOUR PETS SAFE! 🐾🎆

Fireworks season can be frightening for our furry friends. 💗 Loud bangs, bright flashes and unfamiliar noises can cause stress and anxiety in dogs, cats and other pets 🐶🐱

🏡 Here are our top firework safety tips:

Keep them indoors – Walk dogs before dark and keep cats inside when fireworks are expected.

Create a calm environment – Close windows and curtains, and put the TV or calming music on to help mask loud noises.

Make a safe hiding place – Provide a cosy, quiet space where your pet can retreat whenever they feel scared.

Keep them secure – Ensure microchip details are up to date and pets have appropriate identification. Keep doors and gates closed to prevent frightened pets from escaping.

Offer comfort and reassurance – Stay calm, let your pet hide if they wish, and never punish them for being frightened.

Meet Bailey, the Coton de Tulear 🐶

When Bailey began limping and showing signs of pain, his family knew something wasn't right. 🐾 Meet Marco! 🐾

Marco, our Branch Partner Kelly’s cat, was recently admitted to hospital after showing signs of unexplained weight loss 🐱

As part of his investigations, Marco had an ultrasound performed by our Veterinary Surgeon Jake. An ultrasound allows us to take a closer look at the organs and structures within the abdomen, helping us investigate the possible causes of weight loss and guide the next steps in his care 💙

We’re very happy to say that Marco has made a wonderful recovery and is now back home where he belongs - cuddling his brother and getting back to his cheeky ways! 💕🐾

We’re so pleased to see this handsome boy feeling like himself again 🥰

😻 Rocky 😻

Meet handsome Rocky who belongs to our lovely Veterinary Care Assistant Amy.

Rocky came in for his second heart scan guided by the fabulous Virtual Veterinary Specialists (VVS) team. Rocky has previously been diagnosed with Stage 1 Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), so these regular heart scans are important to monitor his condition and check for any changes or progression over time ❤️

We are very happy to say that Rocky’s latest scan showed no evidence of progression 💕🥰

Rocky will continue to be monitored and is due back with us in 6 months time for his next check up.

Well done Rocky! You were an absolute superstar as always 💙🐾

💕 Rumi 💕

Gorgeous Rumi came to us for her vaccination, and during her clinical assessment our veterinary surgeons recommended that she should have x rays of her hips to assess their development and to look for signs of hip dysplasia.

Following her x rays, our veterinary team recommended Juvenile P***c Symphysiodesis (JPS) surgery, which was performed at Medivet Watford 24hour.

So, what exactly is JPS? 🧐

🦴 JPS is an orthopaedic procedure performed in young puppies who are considered at risk of developing hip dysplasia.

🦴 The benefits can help improve joint stability and coverage while the puppy is still growing, potentially reducing the severity of hip dysplasia and the risk of painful arthritis later in life.

Rumi was an absolute superstar throughout her procedure and was loved by all members of our team! We were delighted to have been part of her care 🐶💕🐾
