🌡️🐾 Hot Weather Warning for Pet Owners 🐾🌡️

As temperatures rise, it's important to remember that our pets can struggle in the heat just like we do.

🐶 Dogs and 🐱 cats can quickly overheat, especially during walks or when left in warm rooms, conservatories, or vehicles.

🐰 Rabbits and 🐹 guinea pigs are particularly vulnerable to heat stress. They cannot sweat and can become seriously ill when temperatures climb above 25°C. Hutches and runs can heat up rapidly, even in shaded areas.

Help keep your pets safe by:
✅ Providing plenty of fresh, cool water
✅ Ensuring access to shade throughout the day
✅ Bringing rabbits and guinea pigs indoors or into a cool, well-ventilated area during extreme heat
✅ Using cooling mats, frozen water bottles wrapped in towels, or damp towels nearby for small pets
✅ Avoiding exercise during the hottest parts of the day
✅ Never leaving pets in parked vehicles

⚠️ Signs of heatstroke can include rapid breathing, lethargy, drooling, weakness, and collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cool area and contact a vet immediately.

A little extra care during hot weather can make a big difference. Please share to help keep pets safe this summer. ❤️🐾

It’s Day 1 of Rabbit Awareness Week and this year it is the 20th anniversary campaign: Feeding Bunnies Better! 🎉🐰
Rabbits need plenty of space to hop, stretch, explore and forage naturally. A cramped setup limits movement, impacting their health, wellbeing and make it harder to encourage natural feeding behaviours like grazing on hay throughout the day.
Create a rabbit-friendly space with room to scatter feed, forage and room to roam, because happy homes help create healthy appetites 🐾

The RVC have excellent information packs to help keep our rabbit friends happy and healthy ❤️

❗❗Cuteness Overload Warning ❗❗
This absolute cutie is Jasper 🥰
Jasper is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
This breed (affectionately known as a "Toller") is the smallest of all retriever breeds. Originating in Canada, they were uniquely bred to play along the shoreline to lure ("toll") ducks within shooting range before retrieving them. These high-energy dogs are fiercely intelligent and excellent for active families 🦆
This gorgeous boy wont be hunting any ducks - he will just be living a fantastic puppy life with his lovely owner 🥰
Thank you for the dose of cuteness Jasper

🎉 10 years qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse! 🎉

This week marks 10 years since Helena qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

Becoming an RVN involves a mix of academic study and hands-on clinical training. Helena’s training included 2,100 hours in practice, alongside learning and developing hundreds of nursing skills - from anaesthesia and surgical nursing to inpatient care, radiography, laboratory work, patient monitoring, client support and much more.

Since qualifying, Helena has continued to build on that experience in practice, and is also a clinical coach, helping support student veterinary nurses as they work towards their own qualification.

Helena was inspired to become a veterinary nurse by her nan, who was a district nurse and retrained later in life. Human nursing and veterinary nursing are very different careers, but both share a foundation of care, practical skill, patience, communication and supporting patients when they need it most.

If anyone has any questions about veterinary nursing, routes into the qualification, or what the role involves, Helena would be happy to answer where she can within her scope of knowledge.

Here’s to 10 years qualified — and to all the nurses, human and veterinary, who inspired us along the way. 💚

We had a very special visitor in for their second vaccination today! 🐶💉

Meet this adorable puppy... although we're willing to bet most people won't guess the breed correctly! 😄

With that gorgeous red coat and those irresistible puppy eyes, it's safe to say they stole a few hearts around the clinic today. ❤️

Can anyone guess what breed this cutie is? 👇 Answer below!

A healthy smile starts with prevention! 🦷🐱

The gorgeous Bella visited us today for a dental procedure and only required a scale and polish. Regular dental checks help us catch issues early and keep teeth and gums in great condition, often avoiding more extensive treatment later on.

Ask us about your pet's dental health at their next check-up!
