Our vet Michelle couldn't handle the cuteness 🥺

Your first puppy or kitten health check is on us, so don't hesitate to book them in to see a vet as soon as they've settled into your home. Regular vet checks in those first few months are particularly important for socialising dogs.

Grass seed alert! ⚠️

Most dog owners will be familiar with this particularly pesky problem we face during the warmer months. As spring arrives, grass seeds (which are barbed and sharp) can become a health hazard for dogs. They can attach to fur, lodge themselves into paws, eyes, skin and ears. Left untreated, they can cause irritation and infection.

Norman (pictured here) was the goodest boy as we briefly sedated him to remove a grass seed that had made its way deep into his ear canal. Ouch! It was a happy ending for Norman, who went home after spending only a couple of hours with us.

What can you do to help your dog? Avoid walks in long meadow or unmown grass, and if your dog does like to frollick in those areas, check their paws, ears, eyes and skin after each walk.

If a grass seed does end up where it shouldn't, you know where to find us 🐶

Yesterday our staff had the pleasure of looking after Leon, a friendly 3-year old rottweiler who had injured his claw chasing squirrels - we're sure many dog owners can relate!

To treat his injury, we briefly sedated him (to avoid causing more pain to the injured digit), removed the affected claw and sent him home with some pain relief.

Even for a big dog like Leon, a small injury like this can be painful and debilitating.

No matter the injury, big or small, we are always here to help 🐶

Congratulations to our Veterinary Care Assistant, Roxane, on her one-year anniversary at Medivet 🥳

As a VCA, Roxane plays an essential role in the day-to-day running of the practice - helping customers on reception, providing care for pets in hospital and maintaining high clinical standards throughout the premises.

Her role also serves as the first step to pursuing further education in veterinary nursing, which we know Roxane is very excited about! 🐱🐶🐰🐭
