HEATSTROKE & FLAT-FACED BREEDS

Flat-faced (brachycephalic) breeds such as French Bulldogs, Pugs, English Bulldogs and Shih Tzus are at a much higher risk of heatstroke during warm weather.

Because these breeds can struggle to cool themselves through panting, even short periods in hot temperatures can become dangerous.

If you're bringing your dog to an appointment during a heatwave, please take extra care during transport and watch for signs of overheating.

The good news? Our salon is fully air-conditioned, helping to keep dogs cool and comfortable throughout their groom.

However, the journey to and from appointments can still be challenging in hot weather, so please ensure your dog has access to fresh water and a cool, well-ventilated vehicle.

If you have any concerns about your dog's wellbeing during the heat, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Stay cool, stay safe, and give your pups plenty of shade and fresh water this summer! ☀️

Warmer weather is on the way next week, and while we might love the sunshine, our dogs can struggle in the heat if their coats aren't properly maintained.

Regular grooming helps to:
🐾 Remove excess undercoat and loose fur
🐾 Improve airflow through the coat
🐾 Reduce matting, which can trap heat close to the skin
