Max is 5 months old now and doing really well! Since our last session together his mouthing has reduced significantly, and he’s been much calmer overall. This week, we focused on exercises to help with his walks - walking nicely on his lead, things to get him connecting and communicating with his family even when things are exciting and distracting, and advice for continuing his socialisation 😁

Reminder to puppy parents reading this - although it’s totally normal to be experiencing lots of mouthing and excited behaviour from your puppy, that doesn’t mean there aren’t things we can do to improve this, even at a very young age! Little Colibrí has come a long way since my first session with him! In just a couple of weeks he’s gone from barking at me non-stop & hiding to coming over to investigate me, sitting quietly, and being able to train and take food while I was there coaching. This might not sound like much, but this is a huge improvement for him, and it shows that his confidence is growing! We’ve still got some work to do, but I’m really pleased with his progress so far 🤩

Many small dogs experience similar issues - feeling overwhelmed, barking, hiding, and being worried about greeting new people or dogs. For a lot of owners, it can feel like this is just ‘how it is’ or that it’s normal for small breeds, and you may feel there’s no point in trying to resolve these issues. I’m here to say that it’s never too late, and it’s always 100% worth working on these things because change is completely possible, and working towards it will improve your life as well as your dog’s! ☺️

I met Chewbacca on Monday, she’s an incredibly cuddly and loving Spanish rescue who spent a lot of the session sat on top of me like a lovely weighted blanket! 💜 I’ll be working through a 3-session program with her family to help Chewie with settling in to her new life, building up some focus and connection with her owners when out and about, and targeting some core skills like lead walking! She’s already done really well with our first session, so I can’t wait to see more of her progress snd to watch her and her family’s confidence grow 💪

Had my first 1:1 session with adorable Max the other week, and looking forward to seeing him again next week 💪 Like most puppies (and many GSDs!) Max was pretty bitey before my first visit, and his family were also struggling with getting him started with walks. We covered a ton of great foundation work to help reduce Max's mouthing, build his focus, and to help his family to feel confident taking him out and about. I met Rocky the American Bulldog mix and his brother a few weeks ago, aren't they a fantastic pair! Rocky is a typical loving and boisterous teenager, and I had a great session with his family giving them everything they needed to make all of that energy a little more manageable. Sweet little Nori has had a couple of sessions with me already as part of my 'Adolescent Reset' package - 3x 1:1s targeting the most common struggles dogs face in adolescence by building calm and focus 😌 Her owners have done a fantastic job of working through everything so far, and next week we'll be heading out together to work in a more realistic setting, putting some of these new skills to the test and helping Nori to be her calmest, most confident self 💪 If you're finding the teenage stage tough then why not reach out and find out what training can do for you?
