Nora recently visited us for a post-operative check following surgery for a luxating patella (a kneecap that slips out of its normal position). The good news is that Nora is doing brilliantly.

The bad news? Nora forgot that recovery is supposed to involve rest. 🤭

While it can be encouraging to see pets feeling brighter and more comfortable after surgery, it's important to remember that healing tissues still need time. Restricting exercise during the recovery period is one of the most important factors in achieving the best possible long-term outcome.

Nora, however, seems to be operating under the assumption that feeling better means returning immediately to full-speed puppy mode. 🏃‍♀️💨

We're delighted with her progress... but we're fairly certain her owners deserve an award for trying to enforce the recovery plan. 🏆❤️

If you've ever tried to keep a happy puppy calm, you'll understand the challenge! ⬇️🐾

Rosie 🐈‍⬛

This beautiful girl recently visited us for her vaccinations and seemed perfectly content relaxing in her carrier during her appointment.

One of the best things cat owners can do to reduce stress during vet visits is to make the carrier a normal part of everyday life. Leaving it out at home with cosy bedding, treats, or favourite toys can help cats see it as a safe space rather than something that only appears on "vet day". 🐾

As a Cat Friendly Clinic, we're always looking for ways to make visits as stress-free as possible, and a familiar carrier can make a huge difference.

Judging by these photos, Rosie has completely mastered the art of travelling in comfort and style. ✨

Tell us honestly... does your cat happily relax in the carrier, or do they mysteriously disappear the moment it comes out? 👀⬇️

Some patients prefer to come to their appointments alone.

Kuma and Miska are not those patients. ❤️

These two gentle giants recently visited us together, with Miska attending for an appointment and Kuma providing essential moral support throughout the entire process. 🐾

Studies have not yet confirmed whether moral support dogs are medically necessary, but we're fairly certain they help when it comes to confidence, reassurance, and obtaining extra treats from the veterinary team. 🤭

One of the things we love most about our job is seeing the special bonds that pets share. Whether they're related, lifelong companions, or simply best friends, it's always lovely to see them looking out for one another.

As for Kuma and Miska, we're not sure what was on the agenda that day, but judging by those faces, we're guessing it involved snacks.

And if we're being honest... we'd struggle to say no. ❤️

Who else has a pet that insists on supervising everybody else's appointments? ⬇️🐾

We'd like to introduce Myrddin... and Myrddin's magnificent moustache. 🎩🐱

In fact, we're not entirely convinced that's just one moustache. It appears to be a double moustache, which surely deserves extra style points. 🤭

With those striking markings, impressive whiskers and perfectly polished tuxedo, Myrddin looks like the sort of cat who would insist on being addressed as "Sir" before discussing any important matters.

At Barrmore Vets, we're fortunate to meet cats of all shapes, sizes and personalities, and it's safe to say that some leave a lasting impression the moment they walk through the door. ❤️

Myrddin certainly falls into that category.

We have just one important question...

On a scale of 1–10, how impressive is this moustache? ⬇️🐾

How handsome is Mani? 😍

This gorgeous Akita recently visited us for his kennel cough vaccination and, as always, was an absolute gentleman throughout his appointment. 🐾❤️

Kennel cough vaccine helps protect against some of the most common infectious causes of kennel cough, a highly contagious respiratory disease that can spread wherever dogs meet and socialise.

Despite the name, dogs don't need to stay in kennels to be at risk. Visits to the groomers, training classes, daycare facilities, dog-friendly cafés, walks with friends, and even a quick sniff of another dog can potentially expose them to infection.

While kennel cough is often mild, it can cause a persistent cough and, in some cases, may be more severe in puppies, older dogs, or those with underlying health conditions.

As for Mani, we're not sure whether we're more impressed by his good looks or his impeccable manners. 🤭

👀 Is it just us, or does Mollie look like she's discovered all of the secrets of the universe?

This adorable little lady recently visited us as part of her kitten healthcare journey and spent most of the appointment taking in every sight, sound and smell around her. 🐾💕

The first few months of a kitten's life are full of new experiences, which is why early veterinary visits are so important. Not only do we provide vaccinations, parasite prevention and health checks, but we also help kittens build positive associations with visiting the vet from a young age.

At Barrmore Vets, we're always happy to take things at a kitten's pace, with plenty of treats, gentle handling and opportunities to explore safely.

Mollie may be tiny, but judging by those eyes, she's already got a lot of questions about how the world works. 🖤

We're not sure we have all the answers, Mollie... but we'll happily provide the snacks. 😸

🚨 Important Barrmore update 🚨

Our reception team would like to apologise for any delays in answering the phones.

Unfortunately, Truffle arrived and all productivity immediately ceased. 🐶💕

This fluffy little cloud decided that the best place to wait for an appointment was on one of our receptionists' shoulders, keeping a close eye on practice operations while maximising cuddle opportunities.

While we can't officially recommend shoulder-riding as a mode of transport, we can confirm that it is extremely effective at winning over the entire veterinary team. ❤️

Positive experiences at the vets are especially important for puppies. Gentle handling, plenty of treats, and lots of fuss can help build confidence and make future visits much less stressful.

Judging by that face, we'd say the customer service received a five-star review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Would you have been able to hand Truffle back, or would this fluffy little supervisor have accidentally come home with you? ⬇️🐾

Spot the difference... 👀

Introducing Tigger and George: proof that the "copy and paste" function works on dogs too. 😂

Same colouring? ✔️
Same adorable faces? ✔️
Same "where are the treats?" expression? ✔️

The only noticeable difference seems to be that one was printed in standard size and the other was accidentally enlarged before production. 🤭

These two lovely boys recently visited us for their rechecks and were more interested in supervising the practice than discussing the reason for their appointment. We can't say we blame them!

Recheck appointments are an important part of veterinary care, allowing us to monitor progress, assess how treatments are working, and make sure our patients are continuing to feel their best. Sometimes the smallest changes can tell us a lot about how a pet is doing.

As for Tigger and George, we're still not entirely convinced they're not the same dog viewed at different zoom levels. 🐾❤️

Which one would you choose: pocket-sized or life-sized? ⬇️
