I have three lots of good news to tell you all and I am really happy . Yesterday I saw Meg comming out of her corner and having a run in the wheel. Sitting on the shelf with her sisters which she hasn't done for awhile. She is still unwell but seems to be feeling a little better. She is holding her weight and will only take 21ml of Critical care a day even when I try to give her a second feed. Her wound is healing well and just keeping an eye on it. Milly has gained weight but still looks a little thin to me. Maybe I am just noticing it more as my boys are little chubby boys. Blue is doing super. He is holding his head straight, his ears are pricked up fully rather than the poorly one been down and best of all the nasty smell has gone so hoping the infection is going or gone. So glad my babies are getting better. Oh and nearly forgot to say the little Darling are now eating Critical care balls now. Sssssssh don't let them know I know they are. LOL.

Today has been a pretty good day for Mr. BLUE. He is feeling much better and decided to have a run in the wheel and a wander around the cage. He decided to be super brave and jumped on the top of the Hammock to reach the higher shelf away from the noisey younger boys who were running riot around the cage. After his big adventure he decided he was hungry, had a little nibble of the food in the cage but it was not good enough and stood at the cage door shouting at me to give him the yummy stuff via syringe . How could I say No to his demands. LOL.

We have had a busy time of late with trying to get sponses for the rescue but it seems there are not many. I don't know if I am doing something wrong with my page or nobody is able to help. I work hard and care so much for my degus and give them the extra care when they are not well. I do this out of love for them not for the money. I use my own money to try and cover the costs of everything my degus needs but sometimes I run a little short and need a little help from others. Trips to the vets are not cheap as we a know but we also know it is something that has to be done to insure that our little ones health and well being is not neglected. I have sold personal goods at times to raise founds for the running of the rescue but unfortunately that is not always possible. I don't want to beg but to keep my degus happy and well then I will..... Please consider little donation and ask your friends and family to share or make a small donation. Thank you for reading this . It's nice to know someone cares.

The trip to the vets on Friday did not go to plan. Meg had puss on her neck on Thursday and on looking further I found an open wound which seemed only little at the time. I bathed it and informed the vet on Friday who thought it looked like an abcess and would need a xray to check her ear more closely to see if it is connected to the inner ear problem. They re booked them both in for next Friday where they will spend the day. Last night after feed Meg there was more discharge and the scab had come away. I bathed it gently and hopefully got all the nasty stuff out and will keep bathing it until it starts to heal. She is on antibiotics. Poor Meg is such a lovely girl and does not make any attempt to bite even when it must hurt. Bless her.

Tomorrow is a big day for Meg and Milly who are off to the vets tomorrow for a full check up from head to toe. We need to find out what is going on with both of them especially Meg. She has been a good girl and ate another 21ml of Critical care. On cleaning her face I came across an open wound just behind her ear and the area around looked a little red. I bathed it gently to clean it . I will tell the vet about it tomorrow and will be hoping things go well for both of them. Good Luck Girls.

I am so happy to say that Meg and I are now friends. We sometimes have a squabble over her eating the Critical care. No matter how I wrap her up this little paw keeps magically poping up and knocking the syringe to one side so the food squirts up her face and she ends up looking like a route map. Little sasauge her and she has got so cheeky.

I have set up a Gofundme page in hope that we would get donations to help with the running of the recue and helping to support us. But sadly we have not got many follows to help us . So if anyone is able to donate any of the following items to the rescue to encourage Meg, Milly and Blue to eat more food. We would be most grateful for your help.
Ofcourse any donation of other items would be gratefully received too.
THANK YOU.

At last Mr.Blue has reduced his in take of syringe feed Critical care. He is now taking the Critical care balls that I make as long as I hold them ofcourse. He has taken a liking to Sunflower hearts which he likes as a little snack during the day. Fingers crossed this new medication will clear his infection up.

Happy to say that Meg has eaten 21ml of Emeraid Critical Care and 1ml of water. She was a super little girl and didn't struggle as much as yesterday. We had big cuddle and lots of kisses for mam. She decided to have a snooze in my arms with her belly full. So happy she is not so frightened anymore.

Hi, My Name is Mandy and I need your help.

Can you find it in your heart to make a small donation to rescue a rescue? I have been running a Leicester based rescue for degus almost a decade now, with a little help from friends but mostly from my own pocket. These sweet, social, intelligent little animals are greatly misunderstood, and so many are discarded. Others live horrible lives. Some make it to my rescue and get another chance. Here they are loved. Cared for. Nurtured. But providing homes and care for so many little ones has depleted my resources. From my own pocket I have fed, housed, cared for and provided medical care for over 400 of these little ones, not including babies, but now I get so many that the cost is beyond my modest means. I am only one person. My objective has always been to re-home these lost little ones. Find new forever homes where they will be loved and cared for. Until they are re-homed, however, they remain in my care. They trust me and I won’t let them down. Small donations add up. And what can they do? So much! Cages. Food. Vet visits for the sick. Medicine. Treats and toys to make their lives happy. Under my care they are like family. They ARE family. When they near the end of life, I hold and cuddle them, talk softly to them, warm and cuddle them until they peacefully pass. You can’t imagine how awful I feel when one needs medical care and the funds just aren’t there. Or if I have to make the awful choice of helping one and denying another. The elderly ones retire here, knowing human kindness in their final years. That is why I have set up a gofundme, (see the “Donate” button on the home screen) so I can keep doing this, keep pursuing this passion and love I have caring for these sweet little animals. To show them the good side of humanity. I do all I can, everything I can: build cages, travels hundreds of miles to re-home them, educate folks who need to know more, clean their wounds, administer their med’s, build them toys, and even harvest fresh food and make treats for them. I have a web site but even that now suffers from lack of funds. Now, the cages have worn. The vet bills have depleted my own personal resources, and the nightmarish prospect of perhaps having to close my rescue and cease helping these precious animals looms closer. There are rescues for many species of pet out there, but degus are not as well-known. They are in comparison, new in the pet world. My little rescue has been an oasis for those unfortunates who have been abandoned and will be abandoned. It breaks my heart to think that I’d ever have to turn one away. Can you help, even in a small way? Even a small donation will help buy food and medicine. The picture you see here is of a little family – a mother and her babies. They depend on her, and she depends on me now to help care for her little ones. Is there a new forever home in their future? I offer my deepest heartfelt thanks in advance to you for considering helping my precious rescue. -Mandy
