🚂 Our Last Week of Daily Running! 🚂

We’re into our last week of continuous daily running before October Half Term! 🍂

Today, Excalibur is pulling our service trains as we enjoy another day on our little railway by the lake. 🚂🏞️

Our trains are running at the normal times, with normal fares applying.

And don’t worry — once our daily running finishes, we’ll still be running at weekends, with some fantastic events coming up! 🎉 Keep an eye on our announcements for all the details, as there will be plenty more opportunities to come and enjoy a ride at Rudyard Lake. ❤️

So, if you’ve been meaning to visit, why not make the most of this final week of daily services?

🎓 It’s GCSE Results Day! 🎓

A huge good luck to everyone receiving their results today! Whatever that envelope says, be proud of how far you’ve come and all the hard work you’ve put in. ❤️

We also want to give a very special shout-out to three of our very own volunteers, Chet, Albert and Joel, who are getting their results today! 🚂🎓

Chet, Albert and Joel are a much-loved part of our railway family, and we’re incredibly proud of everything they’ve achieved. We’re all rooting for you all and can’t wait to see what the future holds! 🌟

As well as offering an affordable activity for a family day out here at Rudyard Lake, we are also determined to preserve the past for the future. Hopefully this can be seen with the number of historical locos and rolling stock that have arrived at rudyard over the past 2 years.

Thanks to Stone Trailer Hire, who provided us with the nessecary means to move them, the other week we purchased and collected 4 of the 5 Shillingstone light railway carriages (orginally thought to have been scrapped).

The Shillingstone Light Railway is a fasinating 10.25 railway, orginally built at Shillingstone house in 1954, by the late Sir Thomas Salt, who built the railway to serve his Pig Farm. (Its all a great story).
Sadly after Sir Thomas's death, the railway was sold at Auction, with the locos, stock and equipment going far and wide. Check out this old footage of the railway on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8JRaFFpUQY&t=470s

We now proudly have 2 of the 4 locos and now the rolling stock, which is preserved.
It is planned over time to restore each wagon/coach and to bring them out on special events.
Like all our stock/locos, anyone whos interested, can by prior arrangement come and viewed the collection.

Our trains are running today from 11:00am, with the last train departing at 4:00pm, and Arun is on duty, ready to take you on a relaxing journey along the shores of beautiful Rudyard Lake.
