Paint my House

Paint my House Dogs, horses, houses, cats... I paint commissions for people who love the things in their world. My name is Richard Carman, and I am an artist.

I am based in the UK, and have been selling paintings and commissions for many years. I have been featured on UK TV many times, in my own series "A Brush With the Mersey", on BBC2's "Restoration", ITV's "Locks and Quays" and on Channel 4's "Watercolour Challenge". The first paintings I ever sold were of people's houses local to where I lived as a student, of local pubs, farm houses and businesses.

This mighty warrior is Rufus, a family member. He leans towards the daschund when he's not musing on the Jack Russell, and he's eleven. Rufus's very dark brown coat is slowly turning to grey around the bits you look at the most, as he gets older. He's an extremely good boy. But that's obvious, isn't it?

Sweet on the outside, soft on the inside. Those are rolos. And this is Rolo too, painted in acrylics. I love painting bulldogs. They've got everything that makes painting dogs fun.

Painted fairly recently this is Bruin, a talented dairy farmer and most handsome heeler extraordinaire. Tragically, Bruin died quite soon after his portrait was painted, but he has been remembered on his farm with a beautiful field of sunflowers. RIP Bruin.

White Dogs We Have Painted (6)

I loved painting Pomfret. Firstly because he had one of the best names a dog ever had. And then he had one of the most gentle faces. But THEN, he has some of the best hair. I really dislike green (painting tip - never buy a tube of green paint), but really enjoy the greens I mix. And I really like this green.

Pomfret was painted in acrylics a few years back. If you don't follow me already I'd love it if you did. :)

I loved painting Max, happy up on the Northumberland coast, an area that's one of the best-kept secrets in Britain. I love painting hairy white dogs - there's so much more than white. Max is painted in acrylics.

White Dogs We Have Painted (4)

This is Fanta, the first Italian I painted, and possibly the only one named after a fizzy carbonated soft drink (though I may have painted a Pepsi or an Orangina at some point?). What a beautiful dog! Painted in acrylics. I love hairy hounds.
