Full Time Veterinary Surgeon
Due to a retirement and a colleague leaving to focus on small animal
medicine, an exciting opportunity is available for the right candidate
to become part of a thriving, independent, 7 vet, genuinely mixed
practice. Kirkby Stephen is a small market town in the Eden Valley,
midway between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.

Experience is preferred but enthusiasm and a positive attitude are more
important to smoothly integrate into our busy, expanding, single-site
business. Support is available at all times with 2 qualified veterinary
GDP advisers and with over 60 years of combined clinical experience in
the team there is always someone on hand for help and advice.

Currently the work split is approximately 60% small animals, 35% farm
and 5% equine. We have thriving companion animal clinics, progressive
and traditional beef and dairy herds, and plenty of sheep work including
a number of pedigree flocks. There is also a small amount of first
opinion equine work. Clinical freedom to explore areas of interest is
encouraged and supported throughout.

A 3.5 day working week offers great work life balance (8:45 to 6:30)
with on-call nights and weekends shared equally between 6 vets. Salary
commensurate with experience, CPD encouraged and funded. RCVS, VDS and
BVA subscriptions paid.
A friendly attitude, good personal skills and a professional approach
are essential to uphold our reputation and build on the great rapport we
have with a wide variety of clientele.

We have had a cat brought in who may have been hit by a car yesterday evening. We are treating and monitoring her injuries. She is not chipped, is a black adult female and was found opposite Mellwood on South Road. Please let us know if you think this may be your cat.
