Sadly, an elderly female cat has been found deceased on Muirtown Road. She is black and white with some ginger colouring on her tail and, unfortunately, has no microchip.

This month, we're raising awareness of cancer in our beloved pets and the importance of recognising the signs early. 🐾

Just like humans, our pets can develop cancer, and knowing what to look out for can make a real difference.

🔎 Signs to look out for include:
🐾 New lumps or bumps, or changes to existing ones
🐾 Unexplained weight loss
🐾 Changes in appetite or drinking habits
🐾 Wounds that won't heal
🐾 Unusual swelling or persistent lameness
🐾 Changes in behaviour or energy levels

❤️ Prevention starts with awareness! You know your pet better than anyone, so if you notice something unusual or are concerned about a change in their health, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

🩺 Have you heard about our Health Check 360?

We offer a Health Check 360 for our mature patients:
🐶 Dogs aged over 5 years
🐱 Cats aged over 7 years

This includes blood testing, which can help us investigate your pet's health and screen for certain cancers in breeds that may be predisposed to them. Early investigation can help identify potential concerns and allow us to discuss the next steps with you.

While no screening test can detect every cancer, regular health checks are an important part of looking after your pet as they get older. 💙

🐾 A little update on Joey! 🐾

You might remember Joey from when we shared his photo on Facebook as a wee kitten! Well, he’s been through quite a journey since then.

Around a month ago, Joey sadly suffered an injury, suspected to have been caused by being hit by a car. Unfortunately, this meant he needed to have one of his back legs amputated.

But Joey hasn’t let that slow him down! He has recovered incredibly well and is adapting brilliantly to life as a tripod cat. We’re so pleased to see how well he’s doing after everything he’s been through. 🐱💪

A huge well done to Joey for being such a little fighter! 💙 We’re delighted to share an update on this special boy and wish him lots of happiness and adventures on his three legs.

Three legs, plenty of love, and a whole lot of purr-sonality! 😻💙

As pets get older, some changes can develop gradually and may not always be obvious at home.

HealthCheck360 for Mature Pets takes a closer look at their health, with an experienced veterinary nurse assessing areas including mobility, lifestyle, and physical health.

It also includes urine analysis and blood screening, with lymphoma cancer screening for at-risk breeds. Blood pressure testing may also be carried out for cats where needed.

These additional checks can help build a fuller picture of your pet’s health as their needs change.

🎆🐾 Harley’s Guide to a Stress Free Fireworks Season! 🐾🎆

Just look at Harley the Schnauzer, all cosy and tucked up on the sofa! 🥰🧡

With Bonfire Night approaching, we want all our furry friends to feel as safe and comfortable as Harley looks!

Fireworks can be frightening for many pets, so here are a few ways you can help them through the season:

🐾 Get cosy, Create a safe, comfortable den where your pet can hide away if they feel worried.
📺 Mask the noise, put the TV or radio on to help drown out the sound of fireworks.
🐕 Walk early, take dogs out before it gets dark and the fireworks begin.
🏡 Keep them secure, keep windows and doors closed, and make sure cats are safely indoors.
❤️ Give them comfort, extra cuddles and reassurance are always welcome if your pet needs them!

Remember, every pet is different, so let them settle wherever they feel safest.
