We had one very happy customer this morning! Willow came in to see us for her six-month check on our healthcare plan and was very excited to be here 😁 (note the post-treat lip lick!)

URGENT PLEA - we are desperately short of newspapers.
If you have any about to go in for recycling we’d be very glad of them at the Hitchin surgery.
Thanks in advance.

This magnificent Osprey was very kindly rescued and brought in to us last week by Michael Hindson after being found in a disheveled and weak state in a local park.

Thankfully, following advice from ourselves he carefully brought her to the Practice. (We did need to recover from the initial shock of such a relatively rare bird being found locally!). We are delighted to report that she is recovering well and has begun her rehabilitation and will hopefully be flying again in a more suitable location.

As a protected species and relatively rare Ospreys are tagged with a closed ring whilst in the nest under license. This meant that we could check records to find that she is a 6 year old female originally from the south of Scotland.

We will endeavour to provide an update on her release in due course.

*professional/ expert advice should always be sought if you suspect a bird is in difficulty. Contact the RSPB, RSPCA, local vet or Wildlife Rescue organisation.
