Why do dogs lick 👅

Dogs lick us for various reasons, and their motivations can vary depending on the situation.

In the salon environment we use this communication with us, to help read how they are feeling about what we are doing. This along with their other body language signals, allows us to tailor our grooms to suit them.

Most common reasons why a dog may lick you:

🐾 Affection and bonding

👅Communication and submission

🐾 Seeking attention

👅Taste and curiosity

🐾 Comfort and self-soothing

👅Instinctual behavior

If a dog is licking excessively, it might signal stress, anxiety, or even a medical issue. Speak to a dog behaviourist for guidance on over licking.

Why you should bath your dog? 🛁

Bathing helps to remove dirt, debris, and allergens that can sit within your dog’s coat and skin. Regular bathing keeps them clean and can reduce the risk of skin irritation. 🧼

Bathing reduces odours and those smelly dog smells. If using the right shampoo will restore natural oils. 🫧

Bathing supports the skin and aids for a healthy coat. Bathing with appropriate dog shampoo helps maintain healthy skin and a shiny coat by removing excess oils and dead hair, and can help prevent issues like matting, dandruff, or infections. 🧽

How often you bath your dog does depend on the breed so ask a grooming professional to guide you for your dogs breed. 🐕

Dogs do not needs daily bathing and too frequent washing can have the opposite effect on your dogs skin and coat. However if like some they they are a roller in 💩 then definitely wash, wash, wash ☺️

We are very excited to announce that we are looking for a new member to join our amazing team.

We have extended our opening hours to offer more opportunities for our wonderful clients which means we can also expand the team.

Our company ethos is kind grooming, putting the needs of the dog before anything we do. We would be looking for these qualities in any applicant.

We are sure ALL groomers are kind and do the job we do out of pure love and passion for dogs 💕

❓So what is kind grooming if it’s not just about being kind people?

Kind grooming is deeper than this. It’s a way of working, it’s our world, our complete ethos as a business 🌍

It’s tailoring everything we do for each individual dog 💛 Reading what they are okay with 💛 Building their confidence and gaining trust 💛 Supporting dog parents to ensure best care in our salon and at home 💛 Working with local dog trainers, walkers and vets 💛 And knowing that even confident dogs can have off days and we need to understand what they are NOT telling us.

We do this by taking dog grooming and breaking it down, tweaking it, starting from fresh - Whatever it takes to ensure all dogs can be comfortable whilst being groomed by us 🥰
