I ran Renee yesterday in her first field trial at the Yorkshire Gundog Club Novice A/V at the fabulous rabbit ground at Stean, North Yorkshire. It was her first time being shot over proper rabbiting so I wasn’t sure how she would cope although I had no doubt about her hunting ability. In the end I was pleased with all aspects of her performance and ended the trial in second place behind a very classy dog and worthy winner run by Simon D.

Old man messing about with his dogs….Bryn a young Labrador that turned my head a bit as right from a pup I noticed how he would naturally hold a bit of ground, methodical and thorough showing no inclination to roar about or leave the fall area. So I thought I’d go back in time a bit and see how far I could take his training 🤔

Old man messing about with his dogs……Joe made a few mistakes not helped by my lack of concentration. Point of exercises just to build the young cockers confidence. Long way to go but always enjoy the journey.

Old man messing about with his dogs……Victor having a go as we both try to escape the heat ☀️ 🌞 as the water is tidal it adds a bit of difficulty. I thought Victor handled the diversion of the walkers on the sea wall very well…..they did have two dogs with them. I sent him knowing they were there to see how he would react 🤔
