Tug play for dogs?Is it Good or bad? 🤔
Tug of war is great game for dogs, it provides a full-body physical workout, offers strong mental stimulation, and satisfies their natural hunting instincts!!🪢
✅️Burns energy
✅️Helps teach Impulse control
✅️Satisfies instinct
✅️Builds confidence
✅️Builds stronger bonds with owners
Tug is an amazing way to build trust and has many positive training benefits BUT only when done correctly!!!!
Safety rules to put in place for safe play:
🐾Teach drop/release of the toy or Tug!
(Top Tip if the pup refuses to drop it completely disengage with them, be as boring as possible until they naturally get bored and drop the toy!)
🐾No teeth on skin/nipping skin or clothes
( If your dog gets nippy the game stops ✋️ until all is calm, if it continues stop the game and do something else)
🐾Control your pace!
( you decide when the game stops before your pup gets over excited/frustrated or over tired!)
🐾 Allow your dog to 'win' to stop frustration or 'unfair' games
(Not allowing your dog to 'win' can make them frustrated and less likely to let go or drop the tug)
Does your dog like tug? 🐾🤔
⚠️ALWAYS SUPERVISES DOGS WITH ROPE TOYS TO PREVENT THEM CHEWING/EATING THREADS‼️
⚠️BROKEN ROPE OR LOOSE ROPE SHOULD ALWAYS BE THROWN AWAY, NEVER PLAY WITH BROKEN ROPE ‼️
⚠️BE CAUTIOUS WITH PUPPY AND SENIOR TEETH, AS ROUGH TUGGING CAN CAUSE FRAGLE TEETH TO BREAK OR COME LOOSE AND CAN BE PAINFUL ‼️
