When businesses collaborate, learners thrive 🤝✨

This piece of work was created through a business-to-business collaboration between North Star Learning Hub and Pets4People as part of the Animals at War unit through the AQA Unit Award Scheme.

For this young person, this achievement is huge.

With Pets for People bringing expert, therapeutic animal-assisted learning…
Sami gently guiding and scaffolding the learning…
And North Star acting as an AQA accreditation centre…

👉 learning became accessible, meaningful, and achievable:

• rebuilding confidence
• creating emotional safety
• connecting learning to lived experience
• and recognising progress in a way that counts

The result?
✅ A finished project
✅ Evidence submitted
✅ Accreditation awarded
✅ A learner who now knows: “I can do this.”

This is the power of cross-sector collaboration.
This is what alternative provision done properly looks like.

I can't believe we're still posting about our summer HAF sessions, but we had so much fun and made so much content it's taking forever to post it all! We did part 1 of Christmas HAF this weekend, who's looking forward to part 2 in the new year? 🤔

Christmas HAF – Part 1 🎄✨🐾🔥

Today was bursting with festive fun, creativity, creatures… and even a fire engine!

The children made their very own ✨snow globes✨ and decorated gorgeous 🎄Christmas trees🎄 – pom poms and huge smiles everywhere.

Then came the animal magic, where everyone had the chance to meet:
🐍 Bambi the reticulated python
🪳 Our brilliant hissing cockroaches
🦎 Kaiju the bearded dragon
🪰 Pumpkin the praying mantis

The children showed amazing confidence and kindness as they got hands-on, asked questions, and connected with each animal.

And as if the day wasn’t exciting enough, we had a very special visit from our amazing local firefighters! They showed us around their fire engine, talked us through their lifesaving equipment, and even let the children sit inside the fire engine 🚒🤩 Huge thank you to them for giving their time and making today unforgettable ❤️🔥

When we asked the children to describe their day in one word, here’s what we heard…
🎅 “Jolly”
🎄 “Happy”
✨ “Fun”
⭐ “Awesome”
🎁 “Mystical and magical”
❄️ “Exciting and amazing”

That really sums it up.

We’re thrilled to be delivering such a magical HAF Christmas, and we can’t wait to share Part 2 very soon 🎅✨

As many people know, our Manager - Nancy and her dog Dolly often volunteer their free time to support other amazing Hartlepool projects.
Today Nancy headed up to Headland Community Fire Station (🦌dressed like a reindeer🤔) to support the fantastic Pets4People at a very special Christmas themed HAF session 🐾🧑‍🎄🐍🎄🦎 - a huge thanks to Cleveland Fire Brigade UK for letting her see the Fire Engine - you made her day!!! 🚒🚨👩‍🚒
