Here Comes The Sun ❤️
Finally we have a little taste of summer, and just in time for the school break.
Please follow these tips to keep your pets safe during the heatwave:
Keep dogs cool by walking early in the morning or late evening. A short walk is all they need on exceptionally hot days.
Provide shaded areas and plenty of fresh water for all pets, You could add a few ice cubes to help keep the water cool.
Consider providing cooling mats or damp towels for animals to lay on.
NEVER LEAVE A PET SHUT IN A CAR, CONSERVATORY OR SUMMERHOUSE.
Dogs and cats may appreciate the chance to run through a sprinkler to cool off. Please bear in mind that rabbits should not be soaked so a sprinkler may not be a suitable method for cooling them, although they may appreciate a very quick spray with a fine mist.
Use a pet safe sunscreen on pale, pink or thin areas such as ears, nose and tummy.
If you're taking a dog to the beach remember if the sand is hot on your feet, then it is hot for the dog too. Take shade, poo bags and dont forget to take plenty of fresh water - drinking the sea water will lead to sickness and dehydration. Always rinse your dog after swimming in salt water to prevent skin irritation.
Signs of HEATSTROKE include:
Excessive panting and drooling
Lethargy
Vomitting
Collapse
PLEASE SEEK VETERINARY HELP IMMEDIATELY IF YOU SUSPECT HEATSTROKE.
