Just realised that this Sunday I've been running Puppy and Dog Training Classes at Sowood Community Centre for 30 years. That's over 10,000 puppies and dogs Gulp lol Mind you for the last nine years I've also been running classes at St Jude's Church Hall so can probably add a couple of thousand to that total

Probably the most common question I get asked is " How do I stop my dog being reactive ' A much better question to ask would be ' How do I improve my dogs behaviour 1% per day ' . That is when the journey can begin

Of course every dog owner wants their dog to come back when called but having your dog under control when off lead is probably just as important :-

So what does having a dog under control look like.

When your dog is off lead they are quite happy to hang around with you rather than running off into the distance

When they see another dog they don't have a need to go running up to say hello which can be dangerous if that dog doesn't want your dog in their face.

The same with people and children

Actually for those whose dogs are under control when off lead the owner doesn't really need to be calling their dog back that often when on walks

Hello Everyone, Unfortunately due to the extreme heat expected today, i have decided to cancel this evenings puppy and dog classes.Sorry for the short notice but I need to be thinking of your pups / dogs well being so keep them nice and cool at home. The courses will just run a week longer. See you all next week. David

A bit of recall practice with one of the dogs we walk. Every single one I feel as if I'm going to be taken out lol. I think I need to work on slowing him down a bit and he is probably wandering off a little further than I would like. Nevermind onwards and upwards
