☀️ Crucial advice for keeping your dog safe in the sun! 🐾

As the temperatures rise, we want to share this incredibly important guide to warm weather care. Dogs can only sweat through their paws and rely heavily on panting to lose heat. This puts them at a very high risk of heatstroke.

Please take a moment to read through these essential tips to keep your furry friends safe, cool, and comfortable:

🌳 Provide Shade and Water: Ensure they have constant access to shaded areas both inside and outdoors. Always keep their bowls topped up with cold, clean, and fresh water.

🦮 Walkies: Only head out in the early morning or late evening when it is much cooler. Please avoid hot pavements! If the ground is too hot to touch with the back of your hand for a few seconds, it is definitely too hot for their paws.

🧊 Keeping Cool: Prevent sunburn by applying pet safe sunscreen to their ear tips and nose. Brush them regularly to keep their coats free from knots and matts. Frozen toys, paddling pools, and sprinklers are brilliant ways to entertain and cool them down!

🚗 Important Reminder: Never leave pets in vehicles, caravans, conservatories, or outbuildings in warm weather. Heatstroke can be fatal.

🚨 Signs of Heatstroke to watch for:
* Heavy panting
* Excessive drooling
* Lethargy and drowsiness
* Uncoordinated movements
* Vomiting or a state of collapse

☀️ A gentle reminder as the weather gets warmer! 🥵🐾

With the beautiful sunshine finally here, we want to gently remind everyone to be extra careful with our furry best friends. Dogs cannot cool down as easily as we can, and they can overheat incredibly quickly.
Here are a few top tips to keep them safe and comfortable over the coming days:

✨ The Pavement Test: Place the back of your hand on the pavement. If you cannot hold it there for five seconds comfortably, it is far too hot for their delicate paws!

✨ Walk Smart: Swap midday walks for early morning or late evening strolls when the temperature has significantly dropped.

✨ Hydration is Key: Ensure they always have access to plenty of fresh, cool drinking water.

✨ Cooling Treats: Treat them to something cold in the shade! A frozen LickiMat or one of our Doggie Fro-Yos is a brilliant way to help bring their body temperature down safely.

Enjoy the sunshine, but please stay safe and keep them cool!
