Lorna’s latest surgery had a colourful edge to it 🎨

This lamb, now known as Benjamin Button, presented with an Aural Haematoma - when a pocket is formed in the ear flap the body struggles to get rid of the liquid or pus from damage or infection and just keeps filling it up. To resolve it, we need to drain away the liquid and then compress the dead space to stop it reforming - and the simplest way to do this is to add some buttons or drip tubing to our stitches across the space 🪡🧵

And doesn’t it look jolly smart and colourful

The sun even shone for our 2 lambing courses this past fortnight ☀️🐑

Vets Amy and Lorna ran two workshops covering all the theory of a successful lambing followed by practical workshops to practice delivering lambs, reorganising muddled lambs, IP glucose, docking and castrating and then opening up lambs to see the common causes of early death

Hopefully the sun continues to shine for the rest of our lambing season to bring the much needed grass for turnout 🤞🌱

Thank you to our farming community for the wonderful day that is Pancake Day!

We take Pancake day very seriously at Woods as you can see - every department joins together to champion great local produce - eggs, milk, flour, butter - they all need a local farmer and that’s before adding the delicious fillings. Thank a farmer for a flipping good day 🥞🧑‍🌾

We also fill our break room kitchens with local milk all year round delivered from our Gloucestershire farmers - support a local farmer by getting a doorstep delivery too cotteswold_dairy

- drop pumps in or hand them to any of the farm team to bring in before Tue 17th Feb for a full service, clean and any replacement seals that are required 🧼🫧

They are vital bits of kit so an annual service keeps them in top working order

U9 Green’s were up for a challenge today as they faced a strong Broadwell Clarets side. The game quickly turned into a thrilling watch, with both teams playing some fantastic football throughout.

The whole squad put in an incredible effort from start to finish, playing their socks off right up to the final whistle. Their progress is clear to see each week, with brilliant teamwork, confident communication, and real determination shining through. A superb performance from every single player. Well done boys what a way to finish before Xmas!

THANK YOU - on Wednesday night we held our Fluids refresher and Christmas Quiz in aid of Air Ambulances Uk and we raised, thanks to your generosity, nearly £400 with more to come with our donation matching 💪

Thank you also to Ni**od Veterinary Products Ltd. for supporting the evening and to you all for joining us in celebrating another year with a hotly contested quiz - debate is still going on over half points for reindeer and whether a whisk or a bobble hat is actually the better prize 🤣 Quiz master Pieter had an awful lot of fun and we carried on the Christmas theme the following day with Save the Children UK

Bird Flu (Avian Influenza) restrictions 🐓🦆

Due to an increase in cases the government has issued a new AI Protection Zone (AIPZ) and a separate Housing Order as of 0001 this morning across the whole of England

What does this mean?:

🐓 Anyone with 50 or more poultry or captive birds must house them
🦆 Anyone who gives away or sells eggs or poultry products must also house them regardless of number kept
🐣 The AIPZ zone requires all poultry flocks or backyard bird keepers of any number to follow enhanced bio security:


🏚Feed and water your birds in enclosed areas to discourage wild birds. Store feed and bedding indoors
🥾Clean and disinfect footwear and keep areas where birds live clean and tidy. Have disinfectant at entry and exit to enclosures
🦃Minimise movement in and out of bird enclosures
🧹Reduce any existing contamination by cleansing and disinfecting concrete areas, and fencing off wet or boggy areas
🦆Keep domestic ducks and geese separate from other poultry
⚠️Ensure the areas where birds are kept are unattractive to wild birds, for example by netting ponds, and by removing wild bird food sources

Keepers should familiarise themselves with our avian flu advice and report suspicion of disease to APHA on 03000 200 301.

The avian influenza prevention zone will be in place until further notice and updates can be found at gov.uk/birdflu
