Now that the sun is shining the parasites that your fish carry will also become more active! We recommend a preventative treatment of general anti parasite once the water temperature reaches a stable 10 degrees c or above. Remember to test water quality before adding any treatments to your pond and use a treatment such as Tetra pond Medifin if sturgeon or Orfe are present.

These filters have a compartment for ceramic media as well as the sponge, this means once established it is much safer to replace the sponge when needed as the media balls in the base will always have nitrifying bacteria to convert harmful fish waste.

Attention all pond keepers! It is vitally important that you keep a regular check on your ponds KH/PH levels. At this time of year when we aren't doing as many water changes there is a very real danger of the PH falling below the recommended level (7.2 - 7.8). If the KH of your pond water is below 5 the PH becomes much more likely to drop, sometimes to dangerously low levels that can kill your fish. If your PH is low it can easily be remedied by adding a buffer. Test kits and buffers are available in store if needed.
